The first page of the desktop is intended for a certain number of selected contacts. On the device I currently have, nine contacts can be assigned for quick access. That is, there is a three-by-three grid on the first page of the desktop, where each destination cell prompts for "Create Contact". If you make a selection with a double tap on a certain cell, then the following window will appear with this choice:

1. Create a contact;
2. Add an existing contact;

We choose one of the actions, I think many of us will make a choice on the second item, a vertical list of all existing contacts will open, where we confirm our choice with a double tap on a specific contact. And we observe that in the cell with the name "Create contact" there is now the name of the selected subscriber.

On the second page of the desktop, there are stock widgets for the clock, weather and the schedule planner, which can be easily launched by activating a double tap. If you focus TalkBack on one of the provided widgets, information related to it will be read. That is, about the current weather, the current time and the set schedule of the day. There are also basic application shortcuts such as Camera, Gallery, Internet, Phone, Contacts and Messages. As I understand it, nothing can be swapped on this desktop page, only a standard selection of basic stock applications is provided.

The third simplified area of ​​the desktop is for selected applications. Like the first workspace, a three by three grid of shortcuts is also created here. By double-tapping the "Add app." Cell, a vertical list of all stock and third-party applications will open, where it is possible to assign one of the applications to a specific selected cell for quick access. But for quick access to programs, it is possible to assign only nine applications. Therefore, at the bottom of the display there is a button "Other applications", activating which, the user can always find in the vertical list offered to him any other application that was installed or preinstalled on the device.

By activating the touch-sensitive left function button on the desktop, you can observe the following series of items in the menu that opens:

1. "Edit" - Replace / delete the assigned contact on the first work area, or the application shortcut on the third.
2. "Search" - Opens the "Google Search" application window.
3. "Notifications" - The shutter of the notification panel opens, which we also use TalkBack to call with an angled gesture to the right and down.
4. "Simple parameters" - Device settings.

I think that such a simplified version of the desktop will suit that contingent of people who yearn for something simpler and more accessible. In order not to break your brains with different optimizations for our dark needs. The settings are minimal, there is nothing superfluous, nothing is unnecessary to drag on the desktops and, as it were, everything you need is already present on them.

From ourselves, we can only add that if you just want to see the Android OS with a minimum amount of extra "bells and whistles", then try "Google Start" (aka Google Now Launcher). Many also like Nova Launcher.

Means to disable TouchWiz:

• we decide on an alternative launcher and install it on our Samsung;
• after completing the installation procedure, tap " Open «;
• the system will automatically prompt you to select the newly installed launcher as the default, select, and after that TouchWiz will no longer appear.

By the way, complaining about the poor quality of TouchWiz work, users often forget that the reason for any "freezes" and clicks may not be the interface itself, but different preinstalled apps and services that Samsung () generously stuffs its mobile devices with.

But this does not mean that you will need to use a browser all the time to search. To start searching, you just need to hold down the Home button on your Galaxy S5 smartphone.

Menu

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a more flexible application menu than the Nexus 5. Samsung took care of its users and provided the option to sort the application menu manually, or in alphabetical order.

But Google has provided its users with only displaying installed applications in alphabetical order, which many do not like. Personally, I don't really care what is going on in my menu. The main thing is to be able to organize applications on desktops. Dear readers, how are you worried about the clutter on the menu? Or do you care?

Notification panel
