Troubleshoot HP LaserJet P3015. The world of pc peripherals

To display error codes in the HP LaserJet 5200 printer, an LCD display is provided, on which messages can be displayed, both in the form of expanded sentences, and in the form of numeric codes that require decoding. If the message cannot fit on the display, then the message is displayed alternately: first the first part of the message, and then the other.

Depending on which of the languages is selected for the control panel, our specialists may encounter both the English version of the message and the Russian one. The most in a simple way setting the control panel language is its setting through the printer control menu (menu section - device configuration). If the language of the control panel needs to be set even before the end of the printer initialization procedure, then when turning on the printer at the moment when the memory test starts, you must press the button (This key is highlighted in blue-green and has a checkmark image on it). In the pressed state, the button must be held until all three LEDs light up simultaneously. After that, release the button and go to the language selection menu.

In the table below, we will show only the English-language messages of the control panel (the inscriptions in Russian are already quite understandable).

When an error message is displayed, in addition to a digital code with a short information message, a short message is also displayed on the display, which is a guide to further action. These two messages appear on the same display, so they appear alternately, replacing each other. We have also indicated this alternative message in the table (highlighted in blue). This alternate message prompts you to press the appropriate button on the control panel to continue or to clear the message.

Please note that in the table we do not describe informational messages such as "low toner", "close front cover", etc. These messages are already informative enough, and besides this, they are accompanied by enough detailed instructions to fix the problem.

Poor original quality?

Copy quality depends on the quality and format of the original document. Sometimes, when copying documents that are too light, even adjusting the contrast will not produce a good quality copy.

Is the original image used with a colored background?

If the background is colored, the background and the foreground image may merge, or the background may appear with a different hue.

Unacceptable copy quality

This section provides information on the following topics:

Problem prevention

Identifying and Correcting Copy Defects

Problem prevention

Here are some simple steps you can take to improve copy quality.

Use quality originals.

Load the substrate correctly. Loading the paper incorrectly can result in a skewed image that reduces legibility and makes it difficult for OCR to recognize text.

If the machine often feeds more than one sheet at a time, you may need to replace the pickup pad.

Use a pre-made or homemade liner to protect your originals.

Continuous paper feed errors indicate wear on the copy / feed plate.

A paper jam has occurred in the automatic document feeder (ADF)

Occasionally, paper jams may occur while performing copy, scan, or fax jobs.

If a paper jam occurs, the software displays an error message and a Paper Jam in Feeder Remove, Restart message displayed on the product control panel.

The media is not loaded correctly in the ADF, or the media is full.

The media being used does not meet the requirements.

Typical Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Jam Locations

Input Tray Areas. If the page is not completely lifted from the input tray, try to gently pull it out of the input tray without tearing it.

At the exit. If the page is not completely out of the output bin, try to gently pull it out without tearing it.

Between the feed and exit zones. If the page is not fully captured from

input tray and is not completely out of the output area.

Automatic document feeder (ADF) paper lever

When using thick paper, the paper lever must be moved to the single sheet position (to the right). One sheet of paper must be loaded in the ADF.

After copying, scanning, or faxing, the ADF paper lever must be returned to the multi-sheet position (left).

Clearing Paper Jams in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)

1. Using both hands, pull the product control panel door toward you.

2. Remove the jammed paper.

Remove paper jams by hand only. Internal parts can be damaged when using auxiliary tools.

3. Make sure you have removed all pieces of paper, and then close the product control panel door.
