Mobile phones "Sigma": characteristics, reviews and photos. Information about the dimensions and weight of the device, presented in different units of measurement. Materials used, colors offered, certificates

Sigma mobile never tires of delighting fans of its products interesting new products. The devices of this local brand are different stylish design, decent characteristics typical of smartphones of this class. X-Treme PQ27 stands out among its peers slim body and a less aggressive style, usually characteristic of models with IP68 protection. However, it is capable of working even when submerged under water to a depth of a meter.

Advantages and disadvantages of Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ27

The predecessor of the new secure smartphone from Sigma Mobile PQ30 was more powerful and productive. The developers have created a device in a moderate price range at a reasonable price, so its technical characteristics are unpretentious. But the main qualities are preserved: durability, level of protection, maximum brightness of the display on a sunny day.

Basically, the economic strategy of the Sigma company affected the quality of the hardware. It is enough for a highly secure mobile phone, but for a regular smartphone the functionality and performance are not enough. An poorly placed power button and control buttons that are uncomfortably recessed into the body are among the small, unpleasant details.

What can you buy Sigma Mobile X-Treme PQ27 for:

  • IP68 international standard protection level;
  • Durable body, thin and sleek compared to similar products;
  • Maximum-high level of luminescence;
  • “Clean”, fairly “fresh” version of Android 5.1 Lollipop OS;
  • A complete set of modern wireless interfaces;
  • Good level of autonomy;
  • The presence of the “SOS” button, LED flashlight, “Gloves” mode, execution of gesture commands;
  • Stylish design.
The disadvantages of the X-Treme PQ27 smartphone are:
  1. Low performance, average quality hardware;
  2. User complaints about the uncomfortable placement of physical buttons.

The equipment is characterized as sufficient. In addition to the mobile gadget itself, the packaging includes Charger 5 W, stereo headset with in-ear headphones, USB-MicroUSB cord, paper information.

Appearance of X-Treme PQ27

The fact that the device belongs to the class of devices with IP68 protection is immediately apparent - such devices are distinguished by impressive dimensions and metal inserts on the sides.

The design of the phone is brutal: clear edges of the rectangular body, beveled corners, smooth, rounded lines are completely absent. Although the reduction in thickness makes the X-Treme PQ27 model not so aggressive in comparison with its analogues.

The front side of the Sigma Mobile X-Treme PQ27 is covered with tempered Gorilla Glass 3. In the upper part of the body above the screen there is standard set elements: speaker, front camera, sensors. Mechanical buttons are installed under the screen: receive, lock/power, end call. A little to the right of them is the output of the spoken microphone.

The rear removable plastic panel is decorated with finishing a la genuine leather. At the top there is a main camera with flash and a microphone that allows you to save video. The lower part of the back side is decorated with the Sigma mobile logo, made in white.

Top traditional inputs: MicroUSB - for adapter external devices or charger, 3.5 mm mini-jack for stereo headset.

The contents of the left side of the device are interesting - there is an unusual button that calls the “SOS” function. It can be programmed to emergency call numbers selected by the owner, set the application to launch. There is also a four-pin connector, the purpose of which is not explained by the manufacturer. As a rule, a docking station or alternative charger is connected to such connectors. The metal strip with these parts is stylishly fastened with screws.

The edge with the volume rockers looks normal. All the buttons on the sides are unconventionally deeply recessed into the body, which is a little unusual and will seem inconvenient to users who are encountering this model for the first time.

The bottom edge is very laconic - there is only an external speaker.

Let's remove the back cover and look inside the case. Everything here is trivial: the battery is inaccessible to the owner, it is covered with a plastic casing. The user has 3 connectors at his disposal: a slot for inserting 2 Micro SIM cards supporting 3G and 4G and slot for external memory MicroSD with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes.

The developers replaced the screw fastening of the rear panel with latches, like budget smartphones, so you should refrain from removing it frequently. Over time, this fastening method may weaken, which will negatively affect the water and dust resistance of the smartphone.

To enhance these properties, the back cover was equipped with rubber seals. There is a suspicion that over time the seals will wear out, become poorly sealed, and there will still be a threat of water getting inside. IN complete safety There remains a sealed compartment with cards.

The Sigma Mobile X-Treme PQ27 Black smartphone is traditionally available only in black. Fans of more sophisticated shades can additionally purchase interchangeable metal plates in red, gold or silver. The presence of such replaceable panels allows the owner to emphasize his individuality.

Please note that to install the replaceable side inserts, you will need a special screwdriver. All control buttons are already installed on them.

The connectors are without plugs, but the manufacturer guarantees they are waterproof; the micro-USB connector is completely sealed. The new smartphone can withstand falls from low heights well, despite the absence of visible signs of protection of the screen and body, and is not afraid of the process of swimming in water.

X-Treme PQ27 display quality

The device is equipped with a 4.66-inch OGS touch screen with an IPS matrix with HD resolution (1280x720 pixel), covered with tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display aspect ratio is standard - 16:9.

There is no oleophobic coating - this is a minus. But the screen mobile phone Sigma Mobile X-Treme PQ27 supports the practical Gloves function. This mode is very important in the autumn-winter period, it is necessary for conquerors of snow-capped mountains, when they have to operate the phone with gloved hands.

The control system using a gesture controller allows smart gestures to activate the phone with a double tap when the screen is asleep, and the image of the letter “C” on the display turns on the camera. Double tap will help solve the problem of the somewhat unfortunate placement of the mechanical power button.

In general, the quality of the screen leaves a good impression. The colors of the picture are natural, pleasing to the eye, with an excellent level of contrast. With factory settings, red and green colors show themselves positively, blue slightly predominates, so the image on the screen is a little cold. You can adjust the factory settings using a proprietary utility or manually.

Excellent viewing angles provide an image without color distortion, losing a little in brightness with a strong deviation, but not critical, no more than other gadgets. The picture remains clear in this position, the text is readable. The screen glows at its maximum in high brightness mode, which will please you on sunny days in the summer.

Multi-touch supports five simultaneous touches thanks to Multi-touch technology. This makes using a smartphone more comfortable. It has already been mentioned that the phone has support for smart gestures for customizing it to suit you.

Audio subsystem of the Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ27 smartphone

The sound of the phone is provided by a single multimedia speaker. The sound is quite loud, the frequency range is good. The vibration alert is mediocre, you can barely feel it in the depths of your pocket.

The speaker power is enough for output loud sound when playing videos, in games, speakerphone. Thanks to the volume reserve there is no danger of missing incoming call, if there is no audibility interference around the prohibitive nature.

The stereo headset included by the manufacturers is of the in-ear type. Not super powerful, but quite satisfactory for normal everyday functions. The sound of the speakers is average, without any frills, which will satisfy most users. Listening to music for a long time may make using headphones uncomfortable due to their structure, but over time you can get used to them.

The presence of a radio module when connecting headphones makes it possible to receive and record FM radio stations.

Performance and Communications X-Treme PQ27

Equipped new smartphone Sigma Mobile is unpretentious: a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with a frequency of about 1.1 GHz. Not the most productive hardware, coupled with a GPU Adreno 304 video adapter and 1 GB of RAM. Of the installed 8 GB of external memory, only 5 GB will be available to the owner. This is not much, but it is enough to run ordinary applications. You can expand your memory using additional installed card MicroSD.

The pq27 mobile phone is not bought for games; it is not lightning fast, although not too “heavy” modern toys are quite capable with average graphics quality. When launching resource-intensive games, the device heats up noticeably, and after a while it becomes uncomfortable to hold it in your hands. However, the price of the Sigma Mobile X-Treme PQ27 speaks of its unpretentiousness as a super-powerful smartphone, but it copes well with its main tasks.

The phone performs standard functions (calls, working with documents, playing music and videos, surfing websites) well. There are no difficulties with signal reception, communication works well. External interfaces: Wi-Fi 802.11 n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, supported modern networks 2G, 3G and 4G LTE Cat.4.

There are smartphones more efficient than the X-Treme PQ27, but in 30 seconds of a cold start it will launch GPS without any problems. The phone can be found and installed most often stable connection with approximately 16 satellites simultaneously. The performance of the wireless network modules is satisfactory, there are no complaints about the speed or stability of the Internet connection.

Battery Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ27

The autonomy of the new secure smartphone will please the owner. It has a non-replaceable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. With an economical display load (50% brightness), it will last up to two days if you spend about half an hour on calls, music, SMS, and 4 hours of surfing the Internet.

Working with multimedia content and launching toys significantly reduces battery life. The manufacturer promises 3 days battery life when refusing games and turning off wireless network modules.

The battery charge is restored from a power source (5 V, 1 A) in approximately 4 hours.

PQ27 interface and software

The new rugged smartphone uses a fairly recent version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop without any additional add-ons, in stock form without “marshmallows”. There is no need to be upset about this: Marshmallow is used in only 1.2% of currently produced smartphones.

In addition to the operating room Android systems, little preinstalled third party applications, expanding functionality. Smart gestures for launching programs, double tap to wake up the device - everything works adequately.

The settings menu is standard, the classic without changes allows you to customize the device “for yourself” using the parameters available to the owner of the gadget. The “clean” operating system runs smoothly, without slowdown. User interface- friendly, intuitive.

Cameras Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ27

Smartphone cameras are classified as average in terms of technical characteristics. There are two of them: the rear one uses an 8 MP module, autofocus and a single-section flash, the front one has a 2 MP sensor.

The cameras aren't stellar quality, but they'll take decent photos and record videos at 720p resolution. This is quite enough for everyday life and work, unless high-detail images are required. Like most smartphones in this price range, the quality of the images largely depends on the level of illumination. In addition to the standard mode, you can take photos in HDR.

Camera settings and software- standard, no frills, has all the necessary functions, the interface is clear and simple. There are some effects, a set of portrait templates and filters.

The front camera, like the main one, is of average quality and is more suitable for video calls than for shooting. For the undemanding average user, the cameras' moderate capabilities are satisfactory.

Price and video review of the X-Treme PQ27 smartphone

Devices with an increased level of protection cannot be considered mass-produced; they are designed for a small circle of consumers of gadgets costing above the average.

Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ27 price is slightly reduced compared to the price previous version PQ30, due to the reduction in internal memory, equipped with a simpler camera and processor, is still quite high and may confuse the average buyer. It is about $250. This is a payment for the listed advantages of the smartphone, especially for protection of the IP68 standard.

A video review of the X-Treme PQ27 smartphone is presented below:

The new rugged smartphone X-Treme PQ27 from Sigma Mobile can be described as follows: “ workhorse» with good potential for solving everyday problems in extreme conditions. It can become an indispensable assistant for a traveler, tourist, or military man. In general, it will be useful to those users for whom, in harsh environments, durability and protection from dust, dirt and water are more important than technical characteristics.

You can find adventures at any time of the year, so a protected smartphone is a thing, although not vital, but very useful, especially since the now popular action cameras are convenient to control with mobile devices. The range of secure smartphones is not so wide, and today we have one of the representatives of this segment in our editorial office - Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ30

What is this?

Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ30 is an Android smartphone with a rather “brutal” appearance, as befits secure devices. It is protected from external influences according to the IP68 standard, equipped with a 4.5-inch display and a fairly recent 64-bit MediaTek platform with good performance.

Why is he interesting?

In addition to the fact that the smartphone is enclosed in a strong rubberized case, the manufacturer claims that the gadget has a degree of protection IP68, which means complete protection from dust and dirt ingress, as well as operability when immersed in water to a depth of more than 1 meter for a long time. In addition to dust, dirt and water resistance, the smartphone boasts a 4.5-inch IPS screen, a 64-bit eight-core processor, 2 GB random access memory and a full set of modern wireless interfaces, including NFC and two SIM card slots.

What is in the box?

The smartphone comes in a small cardboard box, inside of which: the smartphone itself, a charger, a USB-MicroUSB cable, a USB-OTG cable, a tool for opening the back cover, a headset ( in-ear headphones with a flat cable) and the necessary set of papers.

What does it look like?

The smartphone looks quite familiar for its class of devices: aggressive appearance and massive body. Quite often, such smartphones contain elements of bright colors (usually orange), but the X-Treme PQ30 looks more restrained, it is completely black. On the front panel there is a 4.5-inch display under Gorilla Glass 2. Below the screen there are 3 standard touch buttons. At the top and bottom of the display there are protrusions on the case that rise slightly above it and ensure its safety in case of falls. The design is made in such a way that it is extremely difficult to drop a smartphone on the display, and even impossible at an angle. There is a speaker above the screen, front-camera, sensor set and LED indicator:

At the top end is the power button; it is made flush with the body and has a fairly tight movement. There is also a plug under which the connectors are located:

Underneath there is a MicroUSB and a 3.5 mm jack. They are recessed quite deeply, third-party headphones will only fit with a thin and straight connector, and MicroUSB will not work from every phone. It comes with an extended connector. Quite a common thing for secure smartphones:

Mounting screws and hardware buttons are visible on the side faces. The phone has four of them (in addition to the power button), but they are placed in a very unusual way: along the edges of the case. On the left side there is an SOS button (you can configure the necessary phone numbers to which a call and SMS message will be sent) and a PTT (Push-to-Talk) button. In fact full function There is no radio in the smartphone; when pressed, the pre-installed Zello Internet radio application is launched. The buttons are large and difficult to miss, but their placement is controversial. Fortunately, both of these functions are not used constantly:

On the right side there are volume control buttons. Apparently for aesthetic purposes, the right end is completely symmetrical to the left, the button layout is similar. It’s unusual and difficult to call it comfortable. It will take some getting used to:

The protrusions of the case also extend onto the back cover. At the bottom there is a wide eyelet for a lace. In the lower and upper parts there are again mounting screws. There is a designation of the place where the NFC antenna is located, and below are symbolic designations of the main features of the smartphone (security, PTT button, and so on):

At the top of the back cover is the main camera with LED flash, external speaker and a small removable cover. The battery in the model is non-removable, which eliminates the option of a spare charged battery. Will save you on long hikes portable accumulator. The cover is secured with two bolts. To open it you will need a complete tool or any flat screwdriver:

The lid has a seal that prevents water from getting inside. Under the cover there are two slots for SIM cards in a “sandwich” configuration, one above the other. The slots are different: for MiniSIM (standard) and MicroSIM. On the left is a slot for MicroSD:

Well, now about security. The smartphone was dropped from a height of human height to the ground, no problems arose, X-Treme PQ30 calmly survived these tests. I didn’t risk dropping someone else’s device on asphalt or tiles, although I have a suspicion that the smartphone will survive a fall from a relatively small height. To test the water resistance of X-Treme PQ30, I dipped into the bathtub and poured plenty of water from the tap:

The manufacturer claims that the smartphone can be used in water and with wet fingers. In practice, the screen does respond, but random clicks appear. You can use it, but it’s not very convenient:

The assembly and quality of the case did not raise any questions, everything is good and fits tightly. The PQ30 really stands up to drops and splashes. Despite its considerable size, the smartphone fits comfortably in the hand. The only bad thing is the strange placement of the hardware buttons. The smartphone is quite thick and weighty, like all rugged smartphones of this level.

Is the screen good?

The smartphone has an IPS screen with a diagonal of 4.5 inches and a resolution of 1280x720. Which is very good for secure smartphones. The screen is protected by second generation Gorilla glass. There is no air gap and viewing angles are maximum:

The smartphone looks pretty good, the picture is not amazing, but among its competitors it looks more than decent. The only caveat is that the mesh of the sensor substrate is visible from some angles. The maximum brightness of the screen is quite high, but in the bright summer sun it is still difficult to use, although the main necessary information you can consider:

Unfortunately, there is no oleophobic coating and the screen is prone to fingerprints. Multi-touch is supported up to 5 simultaneous touches:

There is a mode for working with gloves:

Gestures are supported when the screen is off. Including double tap, unlock by moving up, launching the camera with a “c” gesture, and so on. It is possible to configure additional gestures:

The colorimeter showed the following display indicators: maximum brightness 427.63 cd/m2, black field brightness 0.263 cd/m2 and contrast ratio 1624:1. Very good performance, but with the factory color rendering everything is quite sad. A very significant excess of blue and a lack of red. Strong bias towards cool tones:

But there is an image management utility that has many settings and you can really significantly adjust the image:

Comparison with competitors:

Device nameWhite field brightness,
cd/m2
The brightness of the black field,
cd/m2
Contrast
Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ30 427.63 0.263 1624:1
Xiaomi Redmi 2 328 0.608 540:1
LG Magna 408.584 0.639 639:1
HTC One (M8) 459.44 0.22 2088:1
Sony Xperia Z2 312.92 0.5 626:1

What about performance and autonomy?

The smartphone is equipped with a relatively fresh and current 64-core MediaTek MT6752 processor with eight cores that operate at 1.7 GHz plus 2 GB of RAM. So, although the smartphone does not set records, everything is fine with performance. There is no talk of interface and application lag at all, and it handles all modern games perfectly, no FPS drops were observed:

The smartphone has a 16 GB memory module, about 10 of which are available, and there is a slot for MicroSD memory cards up to 32 GB. Installing applications onto a memory card is of course supported. The vibration alert of the smartphone is average in power, the ringing speaker plays loudly, although the playback quality is not the best, although this is not necessary. The sound in headphones is nothing special, although again, the smartphone was created for other purposes.

The user has almost all modern wireless technologies at his disposal: 3G is supported, dual-band Wi-Fi is available 802.11 n, Bluetooth 4.0 and even NFC, which not all modern regular smartphones have. The GPS module works without problems and quickly finds satellites:

As we mentioned above, the battery is non-removable, its capacity is 3300 mAh, which is very good with such characteristics. In fact, in terms of autonomy, the smartphone was not able to show anything supernatural: about a day and a half with 30 minutes of calls, four hours of Internet via Wi-Fi or 3G, synchronization of several accounts and about 30 minutes of games a day.

For those who want to know more

The smartphone has a 64-bit eight-core processor MediaTek MT6752 (ARM Cortex-A53 cores), all of them operate at a clock frequency of 1.7 GHz, video accelerator - Mali-T760 MP2, RAM - 2 GB. Similar hardware is installed in Meizu M1 Note, but PQ30 shows itself to be a little more modest in performance. Benchmark results:

How user-friendly is the interface?

The smartphone runs on almost bare Android 4.4.4 KitKat, so there are no special features, everything is standard and there is nothing special to dwell on here. The interface flies, there are no even the slightest brakes. In addition to a couple of additions in the display settings, it is worth noting that there is a separate item for setting phone numbers for the SOS button:

And a very simple application manager with the ability to force clean everything:

How are things going with the camera?

The main camera uses a module with a resolution of 13 megapixels, the front one - 2 MP. The interface is standard for Android 4.4 KitKat. The manufacturer does not indicate more detailed characteristics of the modules; video can be shot in FullHD resolution 30 frames per second. The camera is not outstanding, but in good lighting you can get good pictures. Examples of photos and videos:

Bottom line

In the Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ30 smartphone, the developers managed to combine a truly protected case, which is not afraid of falls and sudden immersion in water, and modern hardware, which is not inferior in performance to most of the current unprotected models. This sets the smartphone apart from most competitors in its class, so if you need a durable, water-resistant smartphone with good performance, the PQ30 will be good choice. On the other hand, if you need a strong and long-lived means of communication without any additional functions, then it’s better to take a closer look at secure push-button “dialers” with capacious batteries; these are also available on the market.

4 reasons to buy Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ30:

  • Robust, protected housing with IP68 protection degree;
  • modern hardware with good performance;
  • a full set of modern wireless interfaces;
  • good screen (in its class).

2 reasons not to buy Sigma mobile X-Treme PQ30:

  • controversial implementation of hardware buttons;
  • mediocre camera.

Delivery and configuration

The smartphone comes in a fairly large box made of thick cardboard. The packaging is colorful and allows you to familiarize yourself with some of the technical characteristics and main capabilities of the device. On the front side of the package (lid) there is a beautifully executed image of the Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B smartphone submerged under water. Thus, the manufacturer illustrates the main feature of the device - compliance with the IP67 standard.

There is a description on the sides of the box key features new items: the use of a 4-inch IPS screen, support for two SIM cards in Dual Standby mode, the presence of an 8-megapixel main camera, the ability to use two capacious batteries, etc. All this, of course, increases the information content of the packaging.

The phone is available in two color options(black and black-orange), however, on the front of the boxes of both solutions there is a version with a black-orange color. This fact is somewhat confusing: upon first unpacking and out of ignorance, you might think that someone has replaced the device. This is because the manufacturer decided to use it as “ business card» model image with a brighter version of the case.

Having opened the box, we found an impressive set of supplies for the Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B smartphone. It included:

  • battery capacity 2800 mAh;
  • battery capacity 4500 mAh;
  • Charger;
  • USB cable;
  • two covers for the back of the case;
  • special wrench for screws;
  • user guide;
  • quick start guide;
  • warranty card.

In addition to the set mentioned above, the phone comes with a wired headset, which was missing in our case. It is also worth adding that there is a version of Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22 on sale, the delivery package of which includes only one battery with a capacity of 2800 mAh.

Appearance and arrangement of elements

The first visual inspection of the new product left no doubt: this is a durable, high-quality, fairly heavy and protected device. To be completely frank, he appearance gives the impression of a smartphone with sufficient resistance to shocks and falls. However, the manufacturer does not confirm this fact, indicating only that the device has increased strength, but is not shockproof.

The body of the tested model is made of black rubberized plastic and is characterized by excellent build quality: there are absolutely no backlashes; all elements are tightly fitted to each other, and attempts to twist the structure did not reveal any defects. The phone is subjectively quite heavy. Its weight when using a battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh is 270 g. Installing a less capacious power source (capacity 2800 mAh) makes the device lighter by 30 grams, and also reduces its thickness from 21 to 19.5 mm.

The display of the new product is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and has fairly wide side frames. At the top there are: an oblong hole for the earpiece (covered by a chrome insert), a peephole for the front camera, as well as light and proximity sensors. The notification indicator at first glance seems invisible, but after a missed call or other system message, it manifests itself by flashing red a few millimeters to the left of the front camera.

A good solution, in our opinion, is to add to the three standard touch buttons([Menu], [Home] and [Back]) two easy-to-press mechanical controls, making it more intuitive to accept and end calls. In addition, the right mechanical button performs the function of locking and unlocking the smartphone. Considering that the power button is hard and relatively difficult to reach, the use alternative solution significantly simplifies the use of Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B. There is also a microphone hole in the lower area of the front side of the case.

The body of the new product has ergonomic curves on the sides, which increase ease of use and promote a more comfortable position of the fingers when holding the phone. Coupled with rubberized elements, this design allows for a great feel of the new product and minimizes the possibility of the smartphone accidentally slipping out of your hands. In addition, the entire back of the device is full of curves, protrusions, lines and indentations. On the one hand, these features give the case additional convenience and a unique style, but on the other hand, they collect all sorts of small debris, which is a disadvantage.

On the top of the back of the smartphone there is a peephole for the main camera and LED flash, a second microphone hole, and a speaker slot. At the bottom there is a special “eye”, to which you can attach a cord for a more secure hold.

The attachment point has a high-strength jumper. Moderate attempts to press on its surface do not lead to deformation. The body of the new product is secured using numerous Torx bolts. Four of them are located on the back of the case (two each on the top and bottom).

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B is equipped with two batteries of different capacities and sizes. For this reason, each of them comes with its own cover on the back of the case, which is quite easy to install and securely fixed. In order to gain access to the battery, SIM card and memory card connectors, you need to use a special key (included in the kit) to unscrew the two bolts securing the cover. Note that they are secured in the holes, so they do not fall out after unscrewing. For some users, this option for accessing the inside of the case creates the need to constantly carry the key with them. A cord that can be secured in the designated place is perfect for this purpose. On the outside of the lid there is a metal insert with the logo of the manufacturer. Perhaps this is the only part of the case that is subject to wear and scratches. The inside of the cover is made of ordinary plastic, but the contact point between the surface and the battery is rubberized.

The inside of the device body does not have a rubberized coating. There is a slot for a memory card and two slots for installing SIM cards. Installing the latter is not difficult, but removing them without tweezers is quite problematic. There is a special moisture-proof contour along the edges of the inner (user-accessible) area of the case.

On the right side of the new product there are volume control buttons. They are characterized by a very rigid stroke, the moment of pressing which is felt well. The left side of the device also has two buttons. The top one launches the camera app, and the bottom one is the SOS button. It makes an emergency call or a special action selected by the user.

On the top edge of the smartphone there is a power button, as well as a rubber flap, under which the micro-USB and mini-jack connectors are hidden. The plug is tightly fixed, so it is quite difficult to remove it. The connectors are located deep, which is not very convenient and requires the use of special elongated plugs for connection. This aspect is worth paying special attention to, since most wired headsets and micro-USB cables simply do not reach the connector. Inconvenience may also arise in various situations related to charging a smartphone outside the home or the need to connect it to a computer.

The Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B model is equipped with high-quality display with a diagonal of 4.02 inches and a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The pixel density at these parameters is 244 ppi. The matrix is made according to TFT technology IPS and is capable of displaying up to 16.78 million colors, providing a fairly pleasant picture. However, black color is not displayed quite correctly, with a slight bias towards gray tones.

Despite the small (by modern standards) resolution, it is quite difficult to notice the pixel grid with the naked eye. The display has a relatively weak brightness reserve, which does not particularly affect the perception of information in normal lighting. Under direct sunlight, the situation changes and it becomes difficult to see the image on the screen. The presence of an anti-reflective coating in this case has a minimal impact on perception. The viewing angles are quite wide, and the change in color rendering when strongly deviating from the straight line of sight is minimal.

The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and accepts up to 5 simultaneous touches. The finger glides perfectly over the surface, and the touch pad can be called very responsive. Overall the display leaves a positive impression.

In terms of sound, Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B clearly stands out from the crowd modern smartphones. The device is equipped with a powerful main speaker, the volume reserve of which will be sufficient for any user. There were no missed calls, even in very noisy conditions. On the contrary, a ringtone at maximum volume can create discomfort for others. Speaker differs not only in high volume, but also good quality voice transmission Thanks to the use of two microphones (on the front and back of the case), noise reduction is achieved to a certain extent.

Due to the lack of a test sample of a wired headset in the kit, we were unable to check the quality of its operation. Use headphones for this purpose third party manufacturers turned out to be a difficult task. The fact is that the audio connector, which is protected by a rubber plug, is recessed quite deeply into the body, as a result of which an impressive number of headphones with a standard plug that we had simply do not reach the connector.

The main camera module has a resolution of 8 megapixels and is characterized by an LED flash. The camera takes photos with a maximum aspect ratio of 3264 x 2448 pixels and video in 720p format (15-30 fps). The number of frames varies depending on the selected video recording quality.

In addition to the main one, there is also a front camera with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. Its capabilities are quite sufficient for video communication.

The camera app launches quickly and displays smooth and pleasing animations. When you change the orientation of the device in space, the application icons are instantly adjusted. The settings implement a large number of functions, such as HDR, autofocus, slow motion, electronic stabilization and others. Photos are taken instantly and without delay. There is also a high-speed shooting mode, in which 40 or 99 shots are taken in a few seconds. Video recording with maximum quality parameters (HD) occurs at a fairly low frame rate (about 15 fps). In our opinion, this is very strange, because for a quad-core processor, recording video with a very low resolution (1280 x 720) should not be a problem. Most likely, the reason lies in the “raw” version of the firmware of the copy that came to us for testing. A normal frame rate (about 30 fps) can be achieved by setting the video quality setting to “Good”. The strange thing is that using a lower-quality shooting mode not only increases the fps level, but also doubles the output file size. For an objective assessment, we invite you to familiarize yourself with examples of photographs and video materials of two quality options.

Examples of video shooting

The device is running operating system Android 4.2.1, which is represented by a standard shell with several pre-installed applications, as well as additional settings items. The smartphone's performance is more than enough for fast work OS: there are no stutters, and nice animations are displayed correctly and smoothly.

Pre-installed applications include: compass, barometer, flashlight, software for Reserve copy and data recovery, as well as notepad. The programs work correctly and are quite up-to-date for a device of its class.

The notification panel is quite standard. It displays information about the battery charge status and status wireless technologies, and also allows you to disable auto-rotate screen and others.

The settings menu has special items that are related to additional features phone Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B. The “SIM card management” menu sub-item is presented with standard (for Dual-SIM devices) options. The “Energy Saving Mode” item allows you to make a set of restrictions to save battery power: disabling WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS; setting a fixed level of brightness and volume of multimedia.

As we mentioned above, the smartphone is equipped with a special SOS button. Its settings menu prompts you to select the action that will occur after pressing it (call or SMS message), as well as enter the appropriate numbers for these operations. Another feature of the new product’s settings is the “gesture unlock” item. The user just needs to draw a gesture on the smartphone screen with his finger, which will be linked to one of the selected actions: unlocking the smartphone, controlling music, or launching a specific shortcut.

It is worth noting that out of 4 GB of internal memory, almost 2 GB are available to the user. This volume may not be enough for most users. However, it is possible to move applications to the memory card.

Hardware platform and performance

The Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B smartphone is based on a budget MediaTek MT6589 processor, four cores of which operate at a frequency of 1.2 GHz. The video subsystem is represented by the built-in graphics core PowerVR SGX544, operating at a frequency of 286 MHz. The device is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of permanent memory (about 2 GB is available to the user). Card installation supported microSD memory up to 32 GB.

Thanks to the use of a low-resolution screen, the performance of this hardware combination can be called good. The operation of the operating system, applications, browser and HD video playback are not satisfactory. The new product performs quite well in some heavy games, such as Dead Trigger 2. To obtain more specific numerical indicators, we conducted a series of tests, the results of which you can see below.

The heating of the case during long-term operation of “heavy” applications is observed to be extremely insignificant.

Communications

The phone we tested is equipped with two SIM card slots, which is undoubtedly a plus. Two communication standards are supported (GSM and WCDMA), thanks to which you can easily use one card for conversations and the second for accessing the Internet. We were unable to test the data transfer speed on the 3G network due to the lack of a corresponding SIM card.

Wireless technologies are represented by popular Bluetooth V4.1 and Wi-Fi modules with support for 802.11 b/g/n protocols. Searching for access points and connecting to them is quite fast. The signal level is very stable. There were no interruptions during testing. Data transfer speed, subject to connection to home network With throughput 100 Mbit/s was about 54 Mbit/s for reception and 45 Mbit/s for upload.

An important factor for a secure smartphone that can be used away from home (outdoors or on a camping trip) is correct functioning GPS module. We carried out the first testing of its operation in standard mode: by enabling the appropriate options in basic settings Android OS and running the test in GPS program TEST. In a fairly open area within a residential area, the phone detected only three satellites in 20 seconds, but was still unable to connect to them. This test can hardly be called successful, so after communicating with the manufacturer and an in-depth search for information on the operation of GPS in relation to the CIS countries, we found a solution to the current situation, which consists of the following sequence of actions:

  • we go out into the open area (as a last resort - a balcony);
  • We provide the smartphone with access to the Internet (via Wi-Fi or mobile Internet);
  • dial “*#*#3646633#*#*” on the digital dial (go to the phone’s engineering menu);
  • go to the “EPO” tab (Location -> Location Based Service -> EPO);
  • check the “Enable EPO” and “Auto Download” checkboxes, then return to the previous tab and select “YGPS”;
  • on the “Information” tab, click “Full”, then “Cold”, then “A-GPS restart”;
  • go to the “Sattelites” tab and wait for the signal to fix (it can take from 2 to 30 minutes) - red dots will appear, which will eventually turn green;
  • exit the “YGPS” tab and engineering menu, and also turn off Internet access to the phone;
  • In the Android OS settings, we leave only one option for determining the location - using the GPS module.

After carrying out the above steps, we re-ran our standard test and as a result, in 20 seconds the smartphone detected 14 satellites, and was able to connect to 9 of them. The result obtained can already be described as good. The reason for this situation lies in the “EPO” file, which is disabled by default. It is responsible for storing satellite position data for the specific location or region in which the device is used. Naturally, this procedure should soon be leveled out by updating the firmware. However, we recommend checking the functionality of the GPS module when purchasing a smartphone.

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B is equipped with two batteries with a capacity of 2800 and 4500 mAh. This kit will ensure long-term operation of the device away from the mains without any problems. In addition, the user can configure power saving settings and use a timer to turn the device on or off according to a schedule, which can further extend battery life. We carried out several standard tests: we created the maximum load on the hardware using Dead games Trigger 2, as well as a moderate one, which involved looping HD video playback via MX Player with 50% screen brightness and an active Wi-Fi connection.

Battery 4500 mAh

The second battery shows simply excellent results: 7 hours 40 minutes and 17 hours 48 minutes, respectively. It is worth noting that the smartphone incorrectly reads the remaining battery charge, which is reflected in the graph. Most likely, for the same reason, charging the battery to 99% occurs in 2 hours, and the last percentage increases this time to approximately 8 hours.

In general, the capabilities of both power sources deserve only positive assessment. As the main battery, you can use a more capacious one, since the only concomitant disadvantage of this choice is an increase in the thickness of the case by only 1.5 mm and weight by 30 grams, as well as an increased charging time, which may be due to a lack of firmware in the test sample.

SigmamobileX- tremePQ22 B is a rather interesting representative of the class of secure smartphones. The phone is IP67 certified (protected from dust and moisture) and also has excellent battery life. In addition, there is support for two SIM cards, as well as microSD memory cards up to 32 GB. The rubberized body is also impressive, the build quality of which is at a very high level.

The main inconvenience of the device is the location of the micro-USB and mini-jack connectors. You can still put up with the inaccessibility of the first one: the connector is rarely used outside the home, and the special included cable takes up little space during transportation. The non-standard location of the audio jack can be a significant problem for some users.

If we take into account the weight, size and protective characteristics of the smartphone, considering it as a phone for use in extreme conditions, then we can say that it is excellent for these purposes.

Advantages:

  • stylish appearance;
  • excellent build quality of the case;
  • the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2;
  • two slots for SIM cards supporting GSM and WCDMA standards;
  • compliance with IP67 standard (protection from moisture and dust);
  • excellent battery life;
  • presence of an SOS button;
  • support for microSD memory cards up to 32 GB;
  • good delivery set;
  • good performance of the hardware platform;
  • two microphones provide excellent voice transmission and slight noise insulation;
  • loud speaker.

Peculiarities:

  • micro-USB and mini-jack connectors require the use of non-standard wires and headphones with an extended plug.

Flaws:

  • structural elements on the rear side of the case collect small debris.

We express our gratitude to the companySigma Mobile for the smartphone provided for testing.
