How to unlock Xiaomi on pure Android

There are two ways to unlock Xiaomi Mi series smartphones, such as Mi1 and Mi2, which have a pure Android installed without the MIUI proprietary shell:

  • using the first official method from our instructions, the procedure is completely identical;
  • in the second case, we use ADB, specialized utility to unlock Android devices. Launch ADB, how to do this is indicated in. Then, in turn, enter the commands:
fastboot devices

After entering, we find out if the device is recognized.

Fastboot oem device-info

Get the bootloader status - unlocked or not. Device Unlocked will mean: false - locked, true - no.

Fastboot oem unlock

Start unlocking.

Fastboot oem device-info

Check the bootloader status again. If everything is fine, we restart the device, for which use the command:

Fastboot reboot

To block the bootloader, use the command:

Fastboot oem lock

Possible mistakes

Unlocking the bootloader does not always go smoothly, so we will consider a number of questions that most often arise from users:

  1. When an error occurs Network error:

You need to clear the cookies in the browser and change the IP by rebooting the router.

  1. After 10 minutes Xiaomi send a refusal:

Failure on the servers, you need to re-send the request.

The problem is on the developer side, please try again later.

How to speed up the permitting process

The only way to speed up the permitting process is activity on the official forum... Register on it and be highly active, engage in constructive disputes, give advice and just communicate.

Developers treat such users much better, and the chance that unlocking will occur faster is much higher. Activity data is linked to an account. Users who have a constant interest in the life of the community can get approval almost instantly. Unfortunately, there are no other options to speed up the process.

How many devices can be unlocked

The official site assumes a limit on the number of unlocked devices. One account can be unblocked per month only one device... After a month from the same account, you can apply to unlock another device. There is no way around this limitation.

Xiaomi smartphones for flashing localized software, but in that article, a specific device Redmi Note 3 was considered. Today it will be about all Xiaomi devices.

The bootloader unlocking procedure is not complicated at all, but there are several nuances that you need to know to get the unlock code. I applied to unlock the bootloader three times, and only the third attempt was successful, and then after a certain feint, but more on that later. We will proceed in order.

Applying to unlock the bootloader

The whole procedure for unlocking the bootloader can be divided into two stages: the competent registration of the application on the Xiaomi website and the unlocking of the bootloader itself. Previously, it was necessary to submit an application in Chinese, but recently a web page in English has appeared. Open the link and click on the Unlock Now button.

Enter the details of the MI account to which your Xiaomi smartphone and click on the orange button. If you do not have a Mi account yet, you can register by clicking on the lower left characters.

On new page in the first line, enter your name on English language... In the second line, select the country of residence. In the third line, enter the phone number without +7. In the fourth text box, insert the following text:

要安装固件的本地化版本

What is translated into Russian means: To install a localized version of the firmware. Put a check mark in the bottom line and click on the green button.

A message will be sent to the number you specified, where the pin code will be indicated, which must be entered on a new page. After entering, click on the green button.

If you did everything correctly, a page with congratulations will appear.

The waiting time for permission to unlock the bootloader is approximately 1 to 10 days. But, perhaps, they will refuse you or not send the cherished SMS at all. If after 10 days you still have not received confirmation of the application, then we act according to the second scenario.

We write a letter to the support service at [email protected] ... In the Subject field, indicate: Unlock Mi Device. In the body of the letter in English, we describe the essence of the question. My text looked like this:

Hello.
I have bought Xiaomi Mi4s and I want to install the firmware with the Russian language. I applied for unlocking the bootloader 10 days ago, but the answer is still no. Please help solve the problem.
Thank you.

The next day, a response came with a request to indicate the following data:

Original purchase channel (website name):
mi account ID number:
Email address:
Phone number:
Phone model:
Phone system version (settings — about phone for check):
Location:

By filling in and sending necessary information I prepared to wait a few more days. But by the evening, an SMS arrived, in which there was a link to the necessary application for unlocking.

Unlocking the bootloader

After receiving an SMS with a positive answer, download and unpack the MiFlashUnlock application to your computer. All necessary drivers for your smartphone model must also be installed. When starting the program, we agree to the Disclaimer.

Enter your Mi account data and click on the green button.

The program will check the status of the application and if everything is in order, the following window will appear.

Turn off the smartphone manually. Press and hold the volume down and power buttons at the same time until a hare appears on the device screen. We release the buttons and connect the phone to the PC.

If the drivers are installed correctly, the application will find the Mi Phone device. After checking the smartphone, the bootloader will be unlocked. Three green check marks indicate successful completion of the operation. Now you can install custom TWRP recovery on your smartphone and flash localized software versions. To celebrate, I forgot to take a screenshot with the successful completion of the unlock, so the last picture had to be borrowed from the Internet.

If the verification stops at 50% and the Couldn’t verify device error appears, then this means that your account has not yet been added to the database. You need to wait another 2 to 10 days.

As you can see from the description, the procedure is not complicated, but it is very time-consuming. If you are having difficulty unlocking your Xiaomi devices then I will try to solve them.

PS. An article is being prepared, which describes the process of unlocking the smartphone bootloader without submitting an application.

Update. To unlock new devices, use the new version of MiLashUnlock on

Many owners Chinese phones sooner or later wondered how to check if the Xiaomi bootloader is unlocked. Often, users begin to delve into such details, because some devices from this company do not allow them to be reflashed. It is also inconvenient that when buying a phone directly from China, the consumer will not be able in the future to change the operating system to a Russified or other localized system due to closed access to the bootloader.

Of course, a completely logical question immediately appears: "Why does the manufacturer not support the use of his equipment in all corners of the Earth?" Or maybe he is trying to introduce the Chinese language into wider application? Of course, this is not the case. This happens due to the fact that it has become popular to counterfeit phones and official firmware from Hiomi. The fact is that the software can contain a huge number of viruses that can collect data from the phone. This is why everyone official devices do not allow you to change the firmware. In this article, we will take a look at how to unlock the Xiaomi bootloader.

Another reason why the bootloader is blocked

There is another good reason why the Chinese manufacturer prefers to block access to the bootloader. If suddenly a consumer's phone is stolen or he loses it, then due to blocking, the new owner of the device will not be able to reflash it and receive data, personal information. Moreover, each gadget has its own Mi-account. Although it should be admitted that scammers often ask themselves how to unlock the Xiaomi bootloader. And, most likely, they have the necessary skills. V latest versions of the original software, you will notice new options. One of them has a feature that allows you to locate your phone or tablet. The second is responsible for sending absolutely any text to the working screen of the device.

How to determine if the bootloader is locked from the PC?

Most often, users encounter this problem when working with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro phone. Unlocking the bootloader will be easy. However, this process will take from a week to a month.

In order to find out whether the bootloader is unlocked or not on any phone of the Chinese manufacturer "Hiomi", you need to enter a mode called fastboot. You must first connect the device to your computer. After that, you need to write the word "run" in the "Start" menu. With it we go to the command line. We enter the letters adb and there we write a special phrase. As a rule, it is the same for every phone and looks like this: fastboot oem device-info. After that, one of the inscriptions will appear on the screen: true or false. The first option says that the bootloader is activated, and the second one is not unlocked.

If it does not work, then you must immediately say that it will be difficult to obtain Root rights, even if they have already been activated earlier. The fact is that if the original firmware version does not have a locked bootloader, it can become such after a software update. In order to do this, you will have to use a special PC Suite program. Moreover, the update process cannot be carried out via Mi Flash. Therefore, in order to use the usual functionality, you will have to return everything to starting position... Before you start hacking Android, you need to understand how it works in general, and only then you can start unlocking the system bootloader. So, let's try to figure it out.

What happens when you turn on and start Android?

What Happens When Android Launches

Before us is a switched off smartphone under Android... Let's see what happens if you turn it on.

The BIOS of the mobile phone will start up first. ВIOS (Basic Input / Output System) translated from English means " Basic system input / output ". It is constantly autosave and keeps the inputs and outputs working. In particular, this system also starts the Bootloader.

As the name suggests, the bootloader loads other parts of the operating system, such as the kernel. The operating system kernel is the main part of the operating system. Basically, this is the lowest level of the Android system, which is responsible for the main processes and the organization of data.

Then the main operating system called "ROM / ROM" starts up. ROM stands for "Read Only Memory", or "Read Only Memory", used to store the entire array of unchangeable data. As a regular user, you cannot change anything in it.

In parallel, the bootloader launches not only the kernel, but also Recovery, or the recovery system.
If Android system Suddenly it turns out to be damaged, you can download Recovery and restore the OS from it from scratch or from the moment of saving. Also, in the Recovery system, you can (and should) create backups.

In turn, the bootloader can be in three different states: "Locked", "Open" or "Encrypted". If the bootloader is open, deep changes can be made to the system, for example, you can install your own operating system, also called "custom ROM", instead of the standard, that is, "stock ROM". But other moments, such as changing Recovery or getting root rights to a smartphone, can only be done using an open bootloader.

If the bootloader is encrypted, only the most urgent system updates from the manufacturer can be installed. The same goes for a locked bootloader, but unlike an encrypted one, it can be unlocked.

How to unlock the bootloader

ADB & Fastboot Installer

Majority Android smartphones have the so-called fastboot mode. This is a kind of "advanced bootloader". Using this mode, the regular bootloader can be unlocked. Basic tool for this is the "Android Debug Bridge", or ADB. It is primarily aimed at developers of applications for Android, but also ordinary users gives many possibilities.

First, you need a driver for your smartphone. They can be easily installed automatically from Windows 7 by simply connecting your smartphone to your PC.
Also needs ADB and Fastboot drivers. To do this, download the installer from the Internet and run the downloaded file in administrator mode. Be sure to install drivers for the entire system. The installer will ask you if you really want to do this.

After you have completed these steps, you need to connect your device to your PC in fastboot mode. Many smartphones have a special key combination for this. Alternatively, however, you can also connect the powered smartphone to the PC and enter the command “adb reboot bootloader" v command line... However, you must first enable "USB Debugging" in your smartphone settings. If necessary, you must also enable the "Allow OEM Unlocking" feature.

Now you can easily unlock the bootloader with the "fastboot flashing unlock" command. Then reboot into fastboot mode and type “fastboot flashing unlock_critical” to permanently unlock the bootloader. Thus, you can minimize the risk that your smartphone will turn into a "brick" when installing a new firmware.

Alternatively, on some smartphones, unlocking can be performed using the "fastboot oem unlock" command.

However, there are exceptions. For example, Samsung smartphones do not have real fastboot mode. Instead, there is a download mode. To unlock the bootloader, you need to use Odin program which can install files that can do this. To root or install a custom ROM or Recovery on Samsung devices it's not obligatory.

Another exception is Sony smartphones. Before jailbreaking a smartphone, you first have to register the device on the developer page by entering the IMEI and your e-mail in order to receive a special unlock code.

Many are interested in the question of how to unlock the Xiaomi bootloader, what is it for and what benefits the user receives. After all, the unlocking process takes a lot of time. Let's try to figure out what the unlocked bootloader will give on the phone, read the instructions, tips and try to avoid possible problems.

Why unlock the bootloader

Below we will talk about at least 3 reasons for unlocking a bootloader on Xiaomi smartphones. We advise you to carefully study each item so that after that there are no additional questions.

Chinese version of the phone

When buying phones on sites such as AliExpress or Gearbest, you can find very competitive prices, which can differ from local ones by $ 20-50. That's why many users buy phones with low price... Sellers, in turn, can sell the Chinese version of the phone under the guise of a global one. Chinese version always cheaper and can have MIUI China or MIUI Global installed on it. In both cases, you will need to unlock the bootloader in order to receive updates, otherwise you can get a brick.

Third party firmware

The first and main plus is the ability to install custom(unofficial) and localized(official, but with modifications specifically for your region) MIUI firmware. Some Xiaomi models accept third-party software, but in most cases, a locked Bootloader will not allow this. Now, in turn, consider what gives:

  • Richer functionality and advanced options that allow you to control the entire operation of the smartphone;
  • Simple interface with stripped down or improved functionality.
  • Advanced and sensitive GPS navigator. The location is determined several times faster than in the standard version.
  • A highly optimized operating system kernel that either improves phone performance or extends battery life.

Third Party Recovery

By unlocking the bootloader, you can easily or CWM-recovery, which is necessary not only to obtain root-rights, but also for other important operations on your smartphone. Let's take a closer look:

  • Access to installing new firmware;
  • Possibility .
  • Fast and easy.
  • And much more.

Root rights

And, of course, the "Superuser" mode, the benefits of which can be talked about for hours. Having an unlocked bootloader, you can either make the process of installing these rights much easier, or get ready-made ones along with a certain unofficial firmware. The benefits of root rights are enormous, from overclocking to overclocking.

As you can see, changing the firmware, installing the recovery and ROOT rights are inextricably linked, and an unlocked Bootloader is simply needed for them to work.

3 ways to check bootloader status on Xiaomi

It happens that from the very beginning the manufacturer will unlock the bootloader and the user gets rid of a number of complex processes. Unfortunately, this happens quite rarely and only on certain models, which we will discuss below. Now let's check what mode it is in.

Via phone

The easiest way, built into your device and does not require additional programs.

  1. Open the standard "Settings" of the smartphone;
  2. Go to the item "About phone";
  3. Now, 5 times click on the line “ MIUI version", The inscription" You have successfully become a developer«.
  4. We return to the main menu and find the item "Advanced settings", click on it.

  6. Now you need to find the line " Mi Unlock status". The first time you log in, you need to give permission and agree with the warning.
  7. If the bootloader is locked at the very top there will be a corresponding inscription “ Loader locked, device protected". If the bootloader is unlocked, there will be an inscription “ Bootloader unlocked«.

Via computer

If for some reason the first option does not suit you, you can check if the bootloader is unlocked on Xiaomi using a PC. The instruction is attached for two operating systems - Windows and Linux.

Windows

This is a difficult method, but it is the most accurate.

  1. Download the archive with ADB files and unpack it to the root system disk C so that the path is " C: / adb /«.
  2. Turn off the smartphone, put it into fastboot mode. To do this, simultaneously hold down the power and volume down keys.
  3. using a USB cable.

  5. We type "cmd" and click "OK". The system command prompt appears.
  6. In the command line, write the command "cd c: / adb" and press Enter.
  7. Now we enter the command "fastboot oem device-info" and see the inscription we need.

If "true" is specified, the bootloader is unlocked, otherwise "false", which indicates a locked bootloader.

Linux

  1. Download ADB files from the link above and transfer them to the desired folder.
  2. Open a terminal and write the following command "adb - sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot".
  3. We put the smartphone into fastboot mode, as in the above version. The entered inscription is disconnected, and next to each part of the text we see the necessary information about the bootloader:

sudo fastboot devices- the device number appears here, sometimes the model is added;

sudo fastboot oem device-info- and here is the status of the bootloader, similar to that on operating system Windows.

If the inscription “ waiting device», Most likely, the actions were not performed on behalf of the administrator.

When turning on the device

And the third way to check the bootloader status is to turn on the phone. To do this, you need to turn off your Xiaomi, wait about 20 seconds and turn it on again. If at boot time at the bottom of the screen it says "Unlocked" and next to it there is an icon with an open lock- the bootloader is unlocked.

If you need a version with Russian - download the archive on w3bsit3-dns.com. But the steps are extremely simple, use the screenshots for the example below.

Step 4: launch Mi Flash

Now open the Mi Flash program as administrator, we see White screen with text in Chinese (if the localized version is like mine, then in Russian), where the disclaimer rules are indicated. We agree and click on the appropriate button.

Step 5: sign in to your account

We get into a new window that requires you to log into your Mi-account. Enter your password and your ID(linked phone or mail number). We carefully check the specified data and the keyboard layout, because it is at this stage that many users have problems with the appearance of such a notification: “ You entered incorrect password and / or login". Click "Sign in".

Sometimes a window may appear with the procedure for checking the unlock permission, this may take several minutes.

Step 6: connecting your phone to your computer

Then we return to the smartphone itself. Turn it off and translate it into, simultaneously holding down the power key and volume down... Using a USB cable, we connect the phone to the computer.

Step 7: unlocking process

Final final stage: the program checks the device, if all conditions are met, the bootloader unlocking process will go. We are waiting for a few minutes ( in my case 25 seconds), and if everything was done correctly - we receive a notification about successful unlocking - three green check marks... Ready.

Errors and problems

Most often, problems appear due to the company's server itself, in most cases there is no user fault. But, nevertheless, you need to know how to deal with them. We offer you an approximate list of known issues and methods of their elimination:

  • Stop removing protection by 50%... The unlocking process reaches half and freezes. Unfortunately, this is a problem on the mi.com side, nothing can be done manually here. All that remains is to try again periodically.
  • Error while linking an account... This is also a fairly popular problem among users. To solve it, you need to log out of the Mi-account before linking the account with the device and then log in again as indicated in step 2.
  • Can't download Mi Unlock from the official website... If there is such a problem, download the archive with the program from the forum with w3bsit3-dns.com or c.mi.com.
  • Login failedMi-account... Check which keyboard language is enabled, whether you entered the password correctly and do not confuse the account ID or linked phone number.

Bootloader unlock error: retry after 360 hours

If, when you try to unlock the bootloader, a red inscription appears: "Binding time is too short, Less than 72 hours" or "After 360 hours of trying to unlock the device" - it means that the mandatory account verification time has not passed yet, I talked about this in the second step! That is, you must wait the specified number of days or hours before repeating the procedure again. You cannot bypass the timer.
