Installing and configuring TeamViewer

TeamViewer works great and functional, but still for commercial use, its cost is high;

LiteManager more complicated in the settings, on my computer it had a low connection speed, especially with a low Internet speed, but it was free when up to 30 computers were connected and the ability to remotely control the computer invisibly from the user;

AmmyyAdmin simple program with the most necessary functionality, runs without installation, but is free only up to 15 hours a month.

There are many programs for organizing remote access, both complex and very simple, some of which we will try to highlight.

A device in a remote access network can play two roles:

  • host - a computer to which access is provided (for example, a work computer on which you need to work from home);
  • client - a machine that accesses other devices.

The same computer can be used both as a host and as a client in different situations, but not at the same time.

Each device is assigned its own identifier - a label with which devices "find" each other on the network. In most cases, the connection occurs like this: the client is given a host ID, he finds it on the network and connects to it, giving the user access. For protection purposes, you may also need a unique one-time password that is visible only to the host: this is done so that an untrusted person cannot connect to the computer.

Some programs use the generated unique number ID, some prefer to use the IP address and Domain name... We will consider both.

Remote access via ID

First, let's talk about programs that operate on IDs. They are quite simple to use and are suitable for the everyday needs of ordinary users, but they are not without their drawbacks.

AeroAdmin

One of the advantages of the AeroAdmin program is its intuitive interface

Although all the main functions of the program are available in the free version, if necessary, you can purchase a license that opens access to additional functionality, including:

  • exchange of files with a remote computer;
  • contact book;
  • customization of the interface (for example, you can add a logo and company name to the utility interface).

AeroAdmin can also be used to parental control and remote monitoring of a child's or employee's computer, conducting online seminars, presentations and meetings.

TeamViewer

TeamViewer is the most popular and widely used remote access software. She possesses quite big amount functions, while easy to use and convenient. There are paid and free versions: the free version is limited by the number of connections that one client can implement.

The password is unique for each session: when TeamViewer is restarted, it will change if the user has not entered a static password in the settings. This is for the security of the connection.

In addition to a simple remote connection, the program supports:

  • screenshots and video filming of what is happening on the remote screen;
  • remote printing;
  • transferring files from host to client and vice versa;
  • chat between host and client;
  • the ability to swap host and client places;
  • Wake-on LAN;
  • reboot followed by auto-connection.

In a word, the capabilities of TeamViewer are great, and its main disadvantage is the limited use for home use. If the program thinks that you use it too often for a simple user and connect to too many hosts ( free version supports up to five various devices), it will start dropping remote sessions five minutes after it was established. This is extremely inconvenient, and therefore using TeamViewer for too many devices is not recommended if you do not want to buy an expensive paid version.

Ammyy Admin

Ammyy is another remote access program that is simple and minimal.

It has fewer functions than TeamViewer, but it is perfect for people who do not have special requirements for functionality: Ammyy is simple and very convenient, and also free.

The program interface is similar to the previous one: there is a window, the window contains your data as a host and a form for connecting other computers. You can connect either by ID or by IP.

Unlike TeamViewer, Ammyy Admin does not ask for a password: instead, it requires the host to confirm its consent to connect. The session will not start without the host's consent.

LiteManager

The third program that provides access by ID is LiteManager, a Russian program built on the basis of a now closed utility from Microsoft. Likewise, dividing into free and paid versions, LiteManager provides "free" users with much more opportunities than previous programs: for example, you can connect not 5 computers to your client, but all 30. Such loyalty makes the program attractive not only for ordinary users but also for administrators of small networks.

Unlike other considered tools, LiteManager consists of two components that are installed separately from each other: the client (installed on the client machine) and the server (respectively, on the host) part.

When installing the server part, a password is set for it, which is subsequently used by the client to connect to the host.

The client interface differs from previous programs and is more like a manager window virtual machines... In him there is a list of connected devices, each of which can be started with the mouse.

The capabilities of LiteManager in some way duplicate the functionality of TeamViewer and even exceed it. You can connect both by IP and by ID; it also has a handy display function, referred to as a network map. With its help, you can represent all computers involved in the network in the form of a map that displays the connection of hosts to the client, as well as connected printers and other devices.

Remote access via IP address

Things are a little more complicated here. The fact is that the IP address of an ordinary user is dynamic, that is, it changes regularly, and if you need to constantly connect via IP, it will be very inconvenient to configure the program again every time. Therefore, to make full use of remote access via IP, you need to connect to the static IP service. This is done by the provider and costs about 200 rubles per month (depending on the provider, prices may vary).

After connecting the service, you will be given a static (unchanged) IP, and you can use a remote connection. However, the service should be used at your own peril and risk: ordinary user A PC with a static address, due to its less security, can cause problems.

Alternatively, you can use the DynDNS service, which gives the user a virtual server for a certain fee - the connection will go through it. However, this service is more expensive than static IP.

When the static IP is received, you need to open the port necessary for the program to work.

  1. First, find out the internal IP address of the network. To do this, follow the path "Start - Control Panel - Network Control Center and general access - <ваша сеть>- Information ". The string "IPv4 Address" is your internal IP address. Remember it, it will still come in handy.

Radmin

For a long time, Radmin (before TeamViewer and other ID-based systems) was the leader among remote access systems. It is very lightweight, undemanding to system limitations (therefore it works well on old computers), and also provides high connection speed. However, this program only works via an IP address.

Radmin consists of a client and a server, and after installation, some configuration is required.

  1. In the "Settings for Radmin Server" you need to find the item "Access rights". First, the program will offer to select a protection system: you need to select Radmin if the connection will be carried out via the Internet, or Windows NT - if the local network will be used. After that, you need to click on "Access Rights".

The ability to work remotely with a computer is an irreplaceable and important thing. 1. TeamViewer

TeamViewer- undoubtedly one of the leaders among the services of remote access to a PC. TeamViewer establishes a connection to any PC or server in the world in just a few seconds.

You can remotely control your partner's computer as if you were sitting at it. All that is required of you or your partner is to download the TeamViewer client module and launch it. The program gives him a computer ID and password, he tells them to you by phone or messenger, and now you are already working on his computer. No more effort is required - no need to install the program, no need to configure it.

Data transfer to TeamViewer is carried out using standard web protocols, so there is no need to ask system administrator allow, open or configure anything. I downloaded it, launched it - and everything works.

TeamViewer includes full data encryption based on RSA private / public key exchange and AES session encryption (256 bit). This technology is based on the same standards as https / SSL and is considered completely secure among the standards in use today.

Key exchange also guarantees complete protection of data transferred from client to client. This means that even our router servers cannot control the data flow.

TeamViewer provides two versions:

  • Free - for non-commercial use, however the free version has some limitations. Cross-platform work is not supported, you cannot embed your company's logo in the client module, you cannot use high-performance company servers for connection, installation on server systems is not supported, the number of partners during a presentation is limited to two.

2. LogMeIn

3. ShowMyPc

ShowMyPc- another web service for remote access and sharing computer. There is standard set remote access and administration. Remote access to a computer via the Internet will allow you to control your PC, even if it is thousands of kilometers away from your location.

The technology works on the principle of assigning a unique identifier to the user in the global network. This data is used to connect to remote control.

The function can be configured as using the system functions operating system Windows and using additional programs(their use is usually free).

Notice! In order to access a remote computer through another PC, the remote PC must be turned on and have an Internet connection. Also, a function or program that provides a remote connection must be connected on both devices.

Using the Internet ID Function in Windows

Assigning a unique identification number on the network greatly simplifies the connection process.

By using this feature, computers do not have to configure the connection back process every time.

Also, the Internet ID function is quite easy to use and even an ordinary user can customize its work.

How does Internet ID work? The connection of two computers is due to the connection to a single Host.

The interface is displayed using NAT or a standard firewall.

Follow the instructions below to set up remote access to a PC yourself using the Internet ID option:

  • First you need to get an identifier with which two computers can connect the connection. The procedure for issuing an identifier is carried out by the host free of charge;
  • In some assemblies of Windows, the previously installed utility may be missing. You can download it from the link http://db.repairdll.org/internetidadmin.exe/ru-download-50.html.
  • Install the tool on both computers and get to work;
  • After installation, the host icon appears on the desktop toolbar. Click on it right click mouse and select the connection settings item;

  • Then, in a new window, click on the corresponding button to obtain an Internet ID. This procedure must be done on a computer from which another PC will be controlled;

  • After a few seconds, a window will appear with text box, which will indicate an identifier that provides remote connection of two PCs. Remember it, because without specifying the identifier on another PC, you will not be able to configure the connection;

  • Now you need to perform several actions on the client's personal computer (to which you will be connecting). Run the installed utility, select the operation mode as "Client";
  • Press the button for creating a new connection and in the window that opens, specify the name of the connection and the identifier itself. You can choose any name, and the Internet ID must match the one that was issued on the first PC. Click on the OK button;

  • Next, the connection properties will open. Select the connection mode through the identifier, as shown in the figure below, and enter it again in the corresponding text field;

Now wait a few seconds and wait for the connection to complete.

In subsequent attempts to gain remote access to another PC, it will be necessary to enter only the identifier on the administrator's side, and select the previously created connection template on the client's side.

In addition to the proposed method for setting up remote access, you can use special programs which are even easier to set up.

TeamViewer software

The main feature of the utility: the user does not need to deal with the client and server parts of the program separately.

You just need to install the program on both computers and set up the connection in a few clicks.

After the first start-up, the application window displays a personal computer ID and an access password.

To connect to another computer, just enter its identifier in the Partner ID field and click the Connect button.

TeamViewer benefits:

Among the advantages over other similar software are a simplified connection process, an intuitive interface and high speed of work.

Among the shortcomings of the application, it can be noted that it is not available on mobile devices and tablet PCs. There is also no folder and file transfer mode.

The use of the program is limited to fifteen hours per month. This feature is designed to eliminate the possibility of commercial use.

Lite Manager

This utility is different user-friendly interface and a wide range of options. The application has two parts: for separate installation on the server and client side.

Unlike the previous utilities, LiteManager will be more expedient for more advanced users who need to organize regular access to a remote computer.

Also, unlike TeamViewer and Ammy admin, a unique identifier for the server PC is assigned only once (at the first start).

In the future, it does not change.

This will allow you to quickly remember it and not have any problems with its introduction on the client side in the future.

Also, users have the opportunity to independently set their own identifier on the network.

The program itself is paid, however, if you do not need to use it for commercial purposes, you can download the LiteManager Free version.

It is free and its work is limited only by the filter that determines the possible commercial connection.

The application provides a large number of modes for connecting two PCs, namely:

  1. Remote access;
  2. Data transfer;

Remote access programs using an IP address or domain name

With this category, things are a little more complicated. They need a static ip or domain name. Connection by IP address, this is the classic connection type. It does not provide such flexibility in the location of the computer and is most often used in "office space".

In order to use it, you need to do the following.

Fixed IP or domain connection.

Opening a port to a target - a remote computer.

Even now, knowing our ip-address or assigned to us DynDNS domain, we can hardly connect to the computer - the firewall will not let us through. Most likely port 3389 used by the program Remote Desktop which we will tame in this article will be closed. If, for example, you want to use not Remote Desktop and advanced RAdmin, then you will have to register a different port for it: 4899 .
