Galaxy S5 with Lollipop. Battery and wireless connections are poor. How to fix? Instructions for restoring a smartphone after it gets into water Disable the Samsung S5 cover reminder

You paid tens of thousands of rubles for latest model smartphone only to find out that it doesn't work as it should. We understand your disappointment, life is unfair...
But if you have problems with Samsung Galaxy S5, then it’s too early to give up: with a little digging into the phone, you can probably find a solution or a crutch that will return the desired function to life.
We give you a list common problems Galaxy S5 and solutions for them.

Problem: Phone won't charge or charges very slowly

Some Galaxy users S5 encountered a problem while charging the smartphone - it either did not charge at all or charged very slowly.

Possible solutions:

Problem: Touch screen does not respond to touches

Some users have found that touch screen their Galaxy S5 periodically glitches and stops responding to your actions or, conversely, reacts to touches that were not there.

Crutch:

Hold the Power button for a few seconds until the phone turns off, and then turn it back on. This may temporarily solve the problem.

Possible solutions:

  • It's worth noting that the S5's screen isn't designed to work underwater - it's a waterproof phone, but the touchscreen won't work properly while it's wet. If this is your case, then try drying your phone properly.
  • If you are using a protective film, then this may be the problem. Try removing it and see if that solves the problem.
  • Go to the [Settings > Display] menu and check if you can further increase the screen touch sensitivity
  • This problem may be related to the operation of some application or widget. This is a tedious process, but you can try deleting applications one by one and see if something has changed in the behavior of the display or not. As a last resort, you can reset the settings to factory settings and selectively install the necessary applications.
  • If you did a factory reset and the problem persists, then it is most likely a hardware error. In this case, you need to contact the seller or service center.

Problem: Phone won't connect to Wi-Fi or connection is very slow

Many phone users face wireless network problems and Galaxy S5 users are no exception. This problem may occur due to various reasons, but before you figure them out, make sure your Wi-Fi works with other devices.

Possible solutions:

  • To solve such problems, always start by rebooting your smartphone and router. Sometimes it helps.
  • Go to [Settings > Power Saver] and make sure that you have not set Wi-Fi restrictions related to Power Saver mode.
  • Go to the [Settings > Wi-Fi] menu, select your network and click “Forget network”. After that, set up the connection from scratch.
  • In the same menu [Settings > Wi-Fi] you can select your network, click “Change network configuration”, scroll the window that opens to the very bottom and check the “Show Extra options"; In the “IP Settings” menu that appears, select “Static”.
  • Go to the menu and make sure that “Always” is selected in the “Keep connected to WiFi in sleep mode” option.
  • By using Wi-Fi apps Analyzer check how busy your channels are - too many devices on one channel can affect the data transfer speed. Switch to the most free channel.
  • Check your router's MAC address filtering and make sure it's disabled or the S5 is listed (you'll find the Galaxy S5 MAC address in the menu).
  • You can also try updating the firmware on your router.

Problem: Bluetooth won't connect

Many people have encountered an issue when connecting Galaxy S5 to other devices using Bluetooth. Solutions to the problem may be different for different devices, but there are a few general solutions to start with.

Possible solutions:

Problem: Music stutters when playing via Bluetooth

Possible solutions:

  • In the [Settings > Phone info > Software update] menu, make sure you have installed Latest updates software. Some users suggested that this was an operating system bug, and it was fixed in latest versions firmware.
  • If you have latest firmware then try it.
  • If you are using a player, go to the [Settings - Sound] menu and make sure that the Adapt Sound function is disabled.

Problem: the screen does not turn on

Some users complain about problems with Galaxy screen S5, which at certain moments refuses to turn on. The touch keys light up, you realize the phone is working and feel vibration, but the screen remains black.

Crutches:

Potential solutions:

  • Try going to [Settings > Accessibility > Vision] and make sure that " Dark screen» disabled.
  • The problem may be related to the case or protective film of the phone. Try removing them and see if there is any result.
  • The problem can also be caused by a MicroSD card. Try taking it out for a while and see if the problem goes away.
  • An application may be causing the problem. To find out for sure, you need to go into (mode in which everything third party applications are turned off).
  • If the problem goes away and then appears again, make a backup and reset the settings to factory settings.
  • If you still have problems, then it's time to contact the seller or service center.

Problem: Speaker/microphone does not work during a call

Crutches:

Try rebooting your device. To do this, press and hold the power button until a menu appears in which you need to select “Restart”. After some time, the problem may occur again.

Possible solutions:

  • Turn off your phone, remove and then reinsert the battery and SIM card. After that, turn on your Galaxy S5 and check if the problem is gone.
  • If they can’t hear you, then check the microphone (the small hole on the bottom edge of the phone): blow it out and make sure that nothing is clogged in it.
  • The problem may be related to Bluetooth operation. If you have a Bluetooth device that is set up to connect to your phone, it may be trying to connect to it. Pull the status bar and turn off Bluetooth in the menu that opens. You may need to go to [Settings > Bluetooth] and unpair the device there.
  • Clearing the cache helps some users.

Problem: where did the menu button go?

If you're wondering what happened to the menu button that used to be located in the bottom left corner, it's now a multitasking key in the Galaxy S5. The problem is that some older apps don't have a menu button on the screen, and you need that button to access settings.

Solution:

If you press and hold the multitasking key, you will see that it still has the same functionality.

Problem: delay in work, lag

Many smartphone owners notice that compared to others Galaxy devices The S5 is sometimes downright slow (here we mean delays when launching/exiting applications, when unlocking the phone and pressing the Home button, and sometimes when typing). This is usually due to user interface TouchWiz and Samsung's resource-intensive software.

Crutches:

  • Try using a different launcher. Now there are many options, like Nova Launcher or Google Now (Google Start).
  • This problem may be caused by animation effects, so why not turn them off? Touch and hold anywhere on the Home screen and when the menu appears, select [Home Screen Settings > Transition Effect > Disable]. Go to [Settings > Lock screen > Unlock effect] and select None.
  • You can go further and in the [Settings > Phone Information] menu, tap on the “Build Number” item 7 times to enable Developer Mode. Now go to the [Settings > Developer Options] menu, under Window Animation Scale, select Animation Disabled. You can do the same in the “Transition animation scale” and “Animator duration scale” items.
  • If you are annoyed by delays in work Home buttons, double click On it, open the “Voice Control” application, go to the application settings and uncheck the “Open with home key” checkbox.
  • You can also turn off background data synchronization. This can be done in the [Settings > Accounts] or in the settings of each application.
  • To reduce your exposure to resource-intensive software, go to [Settings > Applications] and assess the importance of each application. If you don’t need an application, click on it and select “Delete” in the window that opens. If you cannot remove the application, you can “force stop” it.

Problem: Water Damage

For many people, the word "splash-resistant" has the same meaning as the word "waterproof", but they are not the same thing, which is why we have already seen many reports of the Galaxy S5 being flooded. In fact, the IP67 rating means that the phone can be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes, but it is not designed to operate under high water pressure (such as from a tap).

Crutch:

Don't purposely get your Galaxy S5 wet; A special feature of the smartphone is that it is waterproof in case of a fall into the toilet or a sudden downpour.

Possible solutions:

  • Do not try to turn on the phone. Open it, carefully wipe and dry; It may be worth placing it in a bowl of rice, but the phone should not have any open ports that could allow rice to get into it. For the same purposes, you can use silica gel packets. For as long as possible (at least 24 hours), resist the temptation to turn on your phone to give it a chance to dry out.
  • If you are not a fan of repairing electronics yourself, you can contact a service center, where they will get your phone in order for a fee. The main thing is to make sure that you can get your money back if your phone is not repaired.

Problem: Camera is slow

The Galaxy S5 actually has a pretty fast camera, so if it seems like it's taking too long to focus or take photos, it could be due to certain camera settings.

Possible Solution:

Launch the camera, click on the gear icon in the upper left corner and turn off image stabilization, which is designed to improve the quality of photos when bad conditions lighting. If you're shooting in good light, you don't need this feature, but it does slow down the camera.

Problem: Camera freezes

Some people complain that when they launch the camera, they get a “Warning: Camera failed” warning window and the camera does not launch.

Potential solutions:

  • A reboot may help. Press and hold the Power button and select the Restart option. After some time the problem may return.
  • Go to [Settings > Applications] and select Camera. Click on force stop, then clear the cache and data.
  • Try cleaning it.
  • It is likely that the cause of this problem lies in the operation of another application: any application that uses camera functions, incl. flashlight may affect camera performance. Most quick way To check this, reboot the phone into (the mode in which all third-party applications are disabled).
  • If you save photos to microSD card, then try cleaning it: remove the phone cover, take out the card, copy all the files to the computer and reinsert the card into the phone.
  • Make a backup of the necessary files and try to reset the settings to factory settings through the [Settings > Backup and reset > Data reset].
  • If all else fails, you can contact the store where you bought the phone, as well as a Samsung service center.

More information about the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone in our review -.

Dear users! Now your questions about work mobile devices you can set on a separate page - .

Experience has shown that every smartphone has its own specific problems, and the Galaxy S5 is no exception. If we are lucky in that the problem is widespread, then the solution will quickly become known. However, this does not always happen, and some problems only appear over time or after a new Android update. Below we present 10 of the most common problems and ways to solve them.

Contents of the article

My Galaxy S5 is slow

Even after updating your Galaxy S5's Android to Lollipop, the TouchWiz interface is still sluggish. The only thing you can do about bloated software is to disable as many different applications as possible using an application manager. These apps will appear in a new Disabled Apps tab, and you can enable them later if you wish.

You can also replace TouchWiz with another, faster launcher.

If you don't want to part with TouchWiz, you can turn off animations and transitions, get rid of the S Voice shortcut, remove unnecessary widgets, take control of apps and services, and clear the system cache or app cache.

My Galaxy S5 battery is draining too quickly

The S5 troubleshooting guide wouldn't be complete without a section on battery drain. By the way, the problem of battery discharge is one of the most common Galaxy problems S5. If you want to quick solutions problems, you can try the tips below.

Reboot your phone, clear cache partition, adjust time screen saver, adjust your display brightness, and make sure your other settings aren't draining your battery. If your battery is running low after a new Android update, then you can back up your data and then do a factory reset.

My Galaxy S5 camera crashes

If you find that your phone's camera is failing, there are a few options you can try. First of all, turn off your phone and wait a minute, then turn it on again. This simple scheme helps very often.

Next, try turning video stabilization on and off. By the way, this solution was one of the first for such a problem, and you can do this in the camera settings. Simply open the camera app, tap the gear icon, then tap Video Stabilization until you see the Off icon.

Plus, you probably need to clear your camera app data. Check if you have backup copy your photos, then go to Settings > Application Manager > Camera and clear the cache and data. If this does not help, then try using another camera app downloaded from the Play Store.

If the camera closes unexpectedly, with the message “Camera failed” or “Camera application not responding,” then this is more serious. All this suggests that the problem is related to the hardware, and this problem is observed in some Galaxy S5. If your phone is one of them, you should report it to Samsung or contact your phone retailer.

My Galaxy S5 is damaged by water

The Galaxy S5 may be waterproof, but there are sure to be people who confuse the concept of "water-repellent" and "waterproof" and plunge their phones into the bath with gleeful faces. Therefore, it is not surprising that this often leads to the failure of phones due to water getting into them.

Our advice is to always make sure the battery cover is firmly pressed down, and try not to expose your S5 to more than the pressure of a light rain. Also, you shouldn't go anywhere that has bleach, the ocean, or just anything with water.

In case your phone stops working after getting wet, do not try to turn it on. Take it apart and dry it with a paper towel, then put the pieces in an absorbent bag for a day or two. After this time, you can reassemble the phone and try to turn it on. If the phone does not turn on, you will have to take it to a service center for repair.

Galaxy S5 overheating problems

If your Galaxy S5 is overheating, there could be a few things causing it. It could be some app that is malfunctioning, so please check this moment Special attention when your phone starts to overheat. If your phone always gets warm during use specific application, then you should probably reinstall it. Also open the " Running applications» in the application manager and check them out (top of the list). Check if all of them are running.

Additionally, you can run a performance test to find out if it is simply the main processor running under heavy load that is causing the problem. Of course, increased display time will always lead to heat, as will games with complex graphics, various tasks and increased ambient temperatures. There is no specific solution to the problem if your phone is working under heavy load.

But if your Galaxy S5 gets warm while doing normal things (excluding heavy video games or watching videos with the charger), then you should check the battery and find out if it is swollen or if it has an electrolyte leak. If your phone is still experiencing problems with overheating, then you need to take it to a specialist for a professional inspection and diagnosis.

Galaxy S5 display problems

If you're having trouble with your S5's auto-brightness levels—the display is too bright or too dark in low-light conditions—then you may have a dirty or faulty light sensor. Check to see if there is any dirt or small debris on it. If you see something under the glass above this sensor, then in this case you may need the help of a repair specialist.

Many people also suffer from ghosting, which is caused by images remaining on the screen in the form of a faintly blurred background or remnants of images. Sometimes this problem can be solved if you pay the necessary attention to the elements present on the display that cause such “influxes”, for example, a widget that is constantly on the display or a clock icon.

There are applications available that high degree probabilities can smooth out the effect of “surges”. We can't say for sure how effective these apps are, but they're worth a try. Another way to minimize screen bleed is to manually set the display brightness to a low level in order to reduce the likelihood of a backlit screen.

Galaxy S5 sensor responsiveness issues

Many users noted the lack of calibration on the touchscreen Galaxy sensor S5, that is, the smartphone did not respond to touching the display exactly at the point of contact, but a few millimeters on both sides. And, although Samsung has released updates to correct this shortcoming, some S5 owners are still faced with the problem of inadequate screen sensor response.

Regarding this problem, we can give the following advice: seek help from a secret service menu phone. To access this menu, open the dialer and enter the code *#0*#. Enter the Touch sector and check how well your phone responds to touch input. If you have problems that an OS update or factory reset couldn't fix, then you'll have to take your phone to a specialist for examination.

Problems with the Galaxy S5 fingerprint scanner

Now let's talk about the fingerprint scanner. In our opinion personal experience We can say that this scanner does not always work correctly, although it has received some improvements thanks to various updates.

Assuming on our part that you're not swiping too quickly, sideways, or with a sweaty finger, the first thing you should do is make sure you're storing your fingerprint in the phone's memory correctly.

Pay attention to exactly how you swipe (make a swipe gesture. It also depends on how you hold the phone). If you register your fingerprint while holding your phone in an unusual way, you should not expect success in the future. Also, register your fingerprints using different methods. Remember, you can always register new fingerprints if you have any problems with them.

Wi-Fi problems

The Galaxy S5 also has problems with Wi-Fi. We won't list them in detail, but let's just say that this phone has an option that can automatically turn off Wi-Fi if the connection quality is poor. This feature is called Smart Exchange and it is capable of switching your connection to cellular network data transfer if the Wi-Fi signal becomes weak. So you should make sure that your Wi-Fi problem has nothing to do with this. To check, use the scheme: “Settings” > “ Wi-Fi Settings» > “Switching Smart Network”.

Wi-Fi problems can also occur when you log into Google Play Store or open another application. If you think your Wi-Fi problems are related to an app, try disabling it using the app manager and then see if the problem goes away. You can also clear the cache of an application that may be causing shutdowns (or the entire system cache), or read our guide on how to improve wifi signal on Android.

Unexpected "death"

At first glance, this problem may seem like the end of your smartphone. Sudden failure (called a bug) was a specific problem with the Galaxy S3, and this problem has also been observed in other devices Samsung lines Galaxy.

If your Galaxy S5 starts shutting down without warning, is acting erratically, or doesn't want to turn on at all (provided your battery is charged), then you have no choice but to do a factory reset. This process will delete all your data, so be sure to back it up.

If suddenly this does not give results, then in this case you have a direct route to the Samsung service center. If the problem is with an internal component of the phone, or motherboard, then the specialists of such a center will probably have to help you.

Have you found a solution to any of your problems with the Galaxy S5? Let us know how we can help you.

you get samsung phone Galaxy S5 from your pocket or bag, but the screen treacherously does not light up, there is no sound, and in general, the phone does not respond to any of your actions. The first thing that comes to mind is that the battery is dead. It would be the best option in your situation, but often the problem is somewhat more complex.

Why won't Samsung Galaxy S5 turn on?

A modern phone, in fact, is no different from a computer, so it can freeze, glitch, behave strangely and incomprehensibly. This is usually due to the unbridled zeal of the owner of the device to install necessary and unnecessary software, install Root rights, and ignore anti-virus programs.

Another reason why Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones die is firmware updates. Unfortunately, the operating room Android system imperfect. In each version, the developers consistently eliminate old errors, but make new ones. For some phone models they are not significant, but for others they can be fatal.

Generally, there are a few main reasons why a device might show a telltale dark screen.

But not only software problems can make a phone unviable; the hardware also fails. Main reasons:

  • moisture;
  • blows;
  • manufacturing defect.

Any mobile phone consumes electricity and cannot work without a working and charged battery. Common energy-related problems fall into several types:

  • battery failure;
  • charger failure;
  • loss of contact in the power connector.

How to solve a problem

If the phone stops turning on after an unsuccessful software update, the problem is usually solved with little effort. Many advisers say that it is enough to return to the factory settings, and the smartphone will become operational. But how to do this if the device does not turn on.

The best thing to do is try to turn on the phone with using hard reset

For G alaxy S 5, it is necessary to perform several sequential operations:

  1. Disconnect the battery and reconnect after a few seconds.
  2. Press and hold three buttons simultaneously: “Home” (in the center of the device), “Volume” to maximum and “Power”.
  3. When Samsung appears, release Power On.
  4. You enter the “Recovery Menu” data recovery mode.
  5. Find the item “Wipe data / factory reset” and click the “Power” button.
  6. Confirm item “Yes - delete all user data.”
  7. After some time, after clearing the memory, select “Reboot system now”.
  8. The system will reboot, and if there are no other problems, the phone will work like new.

Do not forget that returning to factory settings will lead to the loss of all data and installed applications.

What to do if your smartphone encounters water

If your phone gets wet or falls into water, try to disconnect the battery as quickly as possible. If the electronics have not yet failed, then it is enough to dry the device by opening its case. But in many cases the phone will have to be sent in for repair. Even if it was possible to resuscitate the device, its performance will remain at risk. Moisture, especially sea moisture, will gradually contribute to the corrosion of elements printed circuit board, clogging of the moving elements of the vibrator. Therefore, after “bathing”, the smart phone must undergo thorough internal cleaning.

Those who like to hold the phone in their hand and constantly press the power button to calm their nerves run the risk that the phone will not turn on at the most necessary moment. It is easy to replace the button yourself, for those who know how to hold tweezers and a screwdriver. To do this, there is no need to completely disassemble the phone. It is enough to pry the button cover with tweezers or a screwdriver and disconnect the cable. To make sure that the phone does not turn on precisely because of the button, it is enough to close the contacts on the motherboard at the place where the cable is connected. If the device turns on, feel free to change the button. It's hardly worth repairing.

The Galaxy S5 may also not turn on due to the banal reason of the power connector failure. As a temporary and emergency option, you can use the “toad”. This device allows you to charge your battery without your phone. But in this case, the phone will be out of communication while charging. In addition, batteries often fail after several “toad” charging cycles.

Review of the crooked flagship

22.09.2015

Choosing for a long time and meticulously new phone, I tried to choose the most suitable combination of characteristics-price-quality. I chose from last year’s flagships, due to the fact that this year’s flagships are somehow expensive, and cut down here and there - either they don’t support a memory card, or the battery is not removable, or something else. As a result, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has reached the finish line, and I’ll tell you about it. Also among the candidates were the LG G3, Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8. I wanted to write a lengthy piece about why I was chosen, but I’m too lazy, sorry.

In general, there were two attempts to buy this particular phone. At first I bought it in white, and after a few days I discovered a not very noticeable, but unpleasant feature: if you put the phone with the display down on a flat surface, there are gaps at the opposite diagonal corners, that is, it seems that the phone body is slightly twisted. Perhaps some screws were overtightened during assembly or something else, but the mood turned out to be ruined. I returned this animal to the store and took advantage of the right to return a technically complex product within two weeks after purchase.

Let me digress a little from the topic - there are two common misconceptions, namely:
1) supposedly, any (!) product can be returned within two weeks, even if you just don’t like it;
2) allegedly, technically complex goods cannot be returned.

In fact, in case someone doesn’t know, if a defect is discovered in a technically complex product, then before the expiration of two weeks from the date of purchase, the buyer has the right to terminate the sales contract, and the store has 10 days to return the money and conduct a quality check in the service center manufacturer, etc. Only 10 days, and, usually, stores do not meet this deadline, especially if, as in my case, a store is located far from these same SCs and other head offices. That is, if you use your knowledge of the law, and the phone (or other technically complex product) is truly defective, then within two weeks it can be returned back with almost 100% probability. After two weeks, that’s all, just repairs, albeit under warranty, keep this nuance in mind.

Separately, I express my contemptuous fi! "Svyaznoy", whose employees (those with whom I spoke on the phone were seniors, and not in the salon) were spinning around like they were in a frying pan, openly telling lies that only repairs were possible, they say, the product was technically complex and bla- blah blah - relying on a legally unsavvy buyer to openly screw up and persuade him to hand over for repairs, and not for the legally guaranteed possibility of terminating the purchase and sale agreement. I’ll keep quiet about the fact that in their proprietary program, through which salon managers draw up documents, by default in the column “ appearance" it says “traces of use, abrasions,” and the manager has no opportunity to change this. That is, according to the logic of Svyaznoy, even if the phone looks just perfect, then this cannot be, and still “traces of use, abrasions” ☺ . Well, at least the girl manager wrote by hand under her signature that the phone looked perfect, there were no signs of use, as it was. By the way, special respect to this girl manager who worked with me honestly, helping me overcome illegal bureaucratic red tape. "Svyaznogo".

Be that as it may, after 10 days the money for the phone was returned to me. At the same time, I decided to talk to Samsung about the defect. The answer is predictable - only through the SC:

Me: Hello. I discovered the following defect on a completely new smartphone - unevenness of the case, which is expressed in the fact that if you put the smartphone with the display down on a flat surface, for example, glass, there is a loose fit of the opposite diagonal corners. This creates a gap. That is, the body seems to be twisted diagonally. In principle, the gap is not very large, a fraction of a millimeter, but when compared with two other smartphones, I did not find such a defect. And now knowing that absolutely new smartphone assembled poorly, unevenly, there is no longer any joy from the purchase, and doubts arise whether the deformation of the case will spread to, for example, the motherboard, I explain - elastic stresses of the elements can provoke their failure - microcracks, etc. There is an option to return the device under warranty; it was purchased at Svyaznoy, but there are doubts that it will be accepted, because... The defect is not obvious, it is revealed only upon careful examination, as I described. What is the best way for me to deal with this situation?

Samsung: Hello, name.

Thank you for your letter.

We sincerely regret that the inconvenience you experienced is related to Samsung branded equipment.

In this situation, you can contact any of Samsung’s authorized service centers, the coordinates of which can be found at http://www.samsung.com/ru/support/locator/ or through the sales organization at the place where you purchased the product.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to remotely determine the malfunction you stated. This decision can be made by the master service center based on product diagnostic results.

I ordered from another store, the main condition was the presence of an unopened box. Brought it, bought it. This time it's black. Yes, I checked it in the store for diagonal curvature - everything was fine. Started using it. I’ll briefly tell you about my impressions of the phone itself, it’s kind of like a review. So, as a phone - excellent, call quality, speaker, etc. - all is good. Touchwiz in Android 5 was switched from gloomy dark shades to light ones, there were no special lags, yet the power of the hardware is already such that Touchwiz does not slow down. In fact, the only complaints I had were the camera, which is crap for a flagship, to be honest, and the disgustingly crispy battery cover. And this very crispy lid became the reason for the continuation of the story.

I found on sale a branded battery with an increased capacity (3500 mAh versus 2800 mAh standard), which comes with a thicker battery cover (since the battery itself is thicker, the standard one will not fit). Bought it, installed it - great! Just a monolith - no creaks, no crunches. The bonus was that the camera glass was covered, and, of course, increased autonomy - not exactly so much as ah! but it got better anyway, with the most hardcore use the battery lasted until late in the evening (precisely hardcore, with navigation, surfing, etc.), while the standard one could say “come on, goodbye” at 6-7 pm !" I always use my phone to the fullest, I don’t do homemade “optimization” with supposedly removing “junk”, constantly turning it off and on. wireless interfaces, so that you can then proudly declare that, “My phone lasts for a week!”, without mentioning that for this you have to keep it on a starvation diet, turning off everything and everyone, switching it to 2G, turning it off at night, etc.

And somehow I noticed that my phone had become somehow convex or something. I put it on a flat surface - well, damn it! - the shape of the display is far from flat and resembles a warm tube TV!

How did this happen? I handle equipment carefully, it’s not my fault. There was a suspicion that the case was pulled together by this very thick cover, and it is quite rigid compared to the standard one. I asked a question in the corresponding thread of the 4pda.ru forum to the owners of such a cover with a battery, users proingener and andrei 64rus answered, attached photographs, thanks to them for this. At proingener, everything seemed to be fine: “I’m using an enlarged 3500 mAh battery. I checked: the lid doesn’t tighten anything, the body is absolutely flat”:

But andrei 64rus has the same picture as me: “I think it’s the same as yours ☺, to be honest, I don’t care, the most important thing is that it’s been working for the 8th month without problems. With a reinforced 3500 battery, and with normal":

I hope the authors of the photographs will not mind their publication. However, andrei 64rus did not bother with this warm lamp bulge, and I became annoyed. How is that possible?! - original phone, an original accessory, and suddenly this accessory ruined my phone! I decided to figure it out and wrote to Samsung. I am attaching a copy-paste of the correspondence:

Me: Hello. I returned the smartphone to the store and bought a similar smartphone in another store, and additionally bought an increased capacity battery EB-EG900BBEGRU. So, when installing the enlarged battery and the thick cover that came with it, another problem arose - the body now acquired an outward bend, a bulge. Attached are photos so you can see what I mean. With this cover, the case has become more rigid, but this bulge confuses me - it is not clear whether this is normal or not and whether it will lead to malfunctions in the future due to bending stress on the smartphone elements? In fact, I’m already buying a second Galaxy S5, but I still haven’t been able to buy a smartphone with a smooth body.

Samsung: Name, good afternoon.

We inform you that the letter has been received and, based on the data provided, a request has been sent to the technical department of Samsung.

We will inform you of the results within three working days.

After 5 days the following letter:

Samsung: Hello, Name.

We apologize for the long wait for a response.

We inform you that Samsung engineers have made a request to Korea. We would like to inform you that the bending of the device body you indicated is not a manufacturing defect and it is not possible to carry out repairs under warranty service.

Me: Hello. From your answer I still don’t understand - is this bend normal or not? It appeared after installing a proprietary accessory - an extended-capacity battery and a cover for it, as I wrote earlier.

Samsung: Name,

This “outward bend, convexity” is not normal for this device. Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to determine when the deficiency occurred.

Me: I asked users on the 4pda.ru forum about the shortcomings I described. There are several reviews about diagonal curvature (which I wrote about in the very first letter), which means that this is not only my case. As for the second drawback - convexity - I also received an answer, and it is also related to the use of a larger capacity battery. Here is the link for the original correspondence: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=515584&st=13720#entry41520780.

I am attaching screenshots. I can’t attach the original photos posted by user andrei 64rus yet, when I try to open the photo in a new tab I get error 503, I’ll try later. It seems that a branded original accessory worth 1,500 rubles caused the deformation of a new phone worth 24,000 rubles, but the Samsung company refuses to acknowledge this fact.

Samsung: Name,

We inform you that we have sent a request to the technical department of Samsung. We will report the result later.

And two days later:

Samsung: Hello, Dear Name.

Based on the information provided by the technical department employees, we inform you that the defects of the device stated by you are not a manufacturing defect.

In the current situation, repairs are only possible on a paid basis.

Just like that. The position is simple - I am not me, and my horse is on the edge. Samsung Company I didn’t admit that my products were defective, and I couldn’t prove anything to them. And despite the fact that the phone worked perfectly, I was no longer in the mood to continue using it, and I was interested in another model, so the warm lamp was sold along with all the accessories at a dumping price in less than 24 hours.

All the best!

Well, have you accidentally dropped your phone or tablet into water or other liquid? Don't worry, there is still hope that the device will work. There are two different methods for restoring your gadget, depending on whether you dropped it in water or in beer, wine (other liquid).

Follow the advice provided and stay calm.

What you will need:

  • wet device;
  • paper towels or napkins;
  • 99% isopropyl alcohol (if dropped in liquid containing sugar);
  • silica gel or rice;
  • an airtight bag or bag with a tight zipper;
  • patience.

1. Turn off your smartphone immediately!

The first thing you need to do if your phone gets drowned or wet is turn off the gadget immediately. It doesn't matter how you do it. If on your device removable battery, as in most Samsung smartphones Galaxy, then take it out. If you have an iPhone, HTC one or another device with a non-removable battery, then press the power button, hold it down for 5 seconds and thus turn off the device.

Do not try to use excessive force when pressing the power button for about 10 seconds. Under such influence, your device will turn off and turn on again, and this is dangerous in your case.

2. Take your device apart

Once your device is completely turned off (not sleep mode, but shutdown), disassemble the gadget into parts as much as possible, of course, do not overdo it (if the part is not removed, do not tear it off by force).

What you can withdraw:

  • SIM card (the only thing that iPhone owners can confiscate);
  • SD card;
  • back cover;
  • battery;
  • any accessory, such as a case.

3. Place the gadget with the screen facing up

You probably really want to avoid any liquid or moisture getting on the screen electronics. To reduce the risk of damage to the module, we recommend placing the gadget with the screen facing up and keeping it in this position throughout the entire reincarnation of the phone. Gravity will work for you and help attract moisture to the surface on which the smartphone is lying.

Again, make sure that the gadget is turned off (you never know, maybe pressing the button didn’t work).

3.1. If you drop your smartphone into another liquid, such as beer or soda water

If your gadget has been soaked in a sweet liquid, then you need to make sure that the internal electronics are completely clean of any sticky residue. To achieve this, you need to re-immerse your gadget in 99% isopropyl alcohol. It is very important that it is truly 99% alcohol, no lower. Immerse for 5-10 seconds.

Are you scared? You have no other choice. The gadget is sticky and full of sugar, which means that it will not work correctly after restoration or may even die completely.

You also need to take into account that alcohol may slightly dissolve the adhesive present inside the gadget. If you don't have 99% isopropyl alcohol at home, then run to any electronics store or pharmacy and buy it as quickly as possible.

4. Dry your gadget using paper towels

Next, you need to wipe off all the liquid from the surface of the phone using paper towels or napkins. This is necessary so that the next step is more effective. You can also wrap the device in a paper towel, hold it tightly and shake it up/down. This will allow the drops to flow out from the middle of the device onto the paper and be quickly absorbed.

5. Take absorbent agent

To make sure that the moisture from your Samsung Galaxy is completely eliminated as quickly as possible, we need to place the gadget in absorbent substances.

For this, two absorbents are suitable for us:

  • Silica gel is more effective, recommended.
  • Rice - works, but not as well as the previous agent.

It is better if the device is completely covered with absorbent on all sides.

6. Place the absorbent agent and device in an airtight container.

Well, you have prepared the absorbent agent or rice. Now you need to take your airtight container and place the gadget itself in it. Remember that the agent must be on all sides of the device. Make sure the container is completely full and close it tightly.

7. Wait 48 hours.

Yes, exactly two days. Of course, this takes a long time, but if you want to help your gadget (sometimes very expensive) get rid of the liquid completely, you must be patient. Do not try to turn on the device before this time. A short circuit may occur. Remember: the phone must be face up at all times! After you have tightly closed the container, place it in a dark and dry place and trust that after 48 hours the gadget will come to life and work properly.

And finally...

If you drop your phone or tablet in water or any drink, it's not the end of the world. You still have a chance to restore your device.

All you need to do is turn off the device, place the screen up, completely cover it with silica gel and place it in an airtight container, and wait 48 hours without removing or turning on the device. If you are reading just for the sake of interest, then remember it anyway, let it be for you “as a reserve”.
