MIUI is a great system with great capabilities. She - yes, it was she - stood at the origins of the now great company Xiaomi. V this moment MIUI is one of, if not the most popular custom skin in the world, but like any invention as great and flexible as my moral standards, it can be difficult for a beginner. And in this collection I will try to clarify some points, from access to Root to widgets and folders.

How to root MIUI 8?

The file system of a smartphone is like some mega-corporation with a bunch of security clearance levels. 99% of employees are content with the usual level, but the remaining 1% have access to secret places (secret laboratories and other director's apartments) as needed. That is why I believe that the ability to gain root access in Android should always be.

Unfortunately, in MIUI, starting from the seventh version of the commercial, it became extremely difficult to obtain superuser access, even almost impossible. Before, after all, how - went into the settings, made three or four clicks, and the root is received! No additional APKs for you, no questionable sites and suggestions to increase the length of your stylus or your girlfriend's clipboard, everything is quiet, calm, "noise and dust."

In MIUI 7/8, due to the changed privacy policy, this gorgeous opportunity was removed, and the hole was plugged so tightly that even the usual methods of root can not be obtained. However, there are ways, and I will even talk about the most popular - but remember, you do this at your own peril and risk, neither the author nor the site is responsible for your actions.

In short, we get the root through the TWRP menu recovery (,) with an unlocked bootloader and a special Supersu archive. If these words do not seem to you to be rubbish, you are welcome. If successful, please unsubscribe in the comments.

How to add a widget in MIUI 8?

Widgets are important and powerful, the # 1 desktop customization tool. Seeing all the information you need by simply swiping left or right from the start screen is worth a lot!

And, as for me, the installation of the widget in the heroine of the article is one of the easiest. There are three ways to do this! A long press on the touch menu key (example above), a pinch with two fingers and a long press on an empty space on the desktop call up the editing mode, where you can add widgets and more. However, the firmware from Xiaomi work with widgets is not as good as, say, in Simple Launcher, since there is no preview of these very widgets and their sizes.

How to create a folder in MIUI 8?

As they say, the admin has two pairs of parents - a dad with a mom and a motherboard with a folder in Windows. MIUI 8 also has folders - and they are created in two ways. First, you can pinch on an arbitrary icon on the desktop, and then drag it to the second icon so that a thin border appears around it. Release your finger - the folder is created!

Further - if you hold down the menu button and enter the mode where we created the widgets (see above), then tap on the icon - the mode will change to a kind of clipboard, and the icon will move to the slot below. To the right of it there will always be an opportunity to create a folder - this is the second way.

There are a few more tricks associated with icons. For example, if we have selected a dozen different ones, and we need to upload them into one folder, this can be done by alternately tapping on each ... or upload all together, no matter how many of them there are. To do this, hold down your finger for half a second on the area below where the icons are located, then swipe to the left or right - the icons from this will gather in a tight pack, and when you click on it, they will land in open folder together. You can return to editing mode with the same sideways swipe.

In general, this mode is enchantingly useful if you need to manage a dozen icons at once, packing them into the necessary folders. The names of the folders, by the way, change from above - open the folder, see its name on top, click on it and change it.

How to change the order of desktops in MIUI 8?

This question is more interesting - but in fact, it is solved simply. Instead of pinching with two fingers, pinch ... with three! This will open a menu for organizing desktops, where you can visually see each and move them in the order you want.

In the same place, by the way, you can add and remove desktops. This is a great addition to the capabilities of the mini-manager, and I recommend using only it - it saves both time and nerves.

How to transfer programs to a memory card in MIUI 8?

Another painful topic, like spring for allergy sufferers. Smartphones, especially budget ones, are rarely equipped with volume internal memory more than 16 GB (of which it is good if 10 gigabytes are available). And some particularly impudent applications, especially branded from large corporations (Word, do not hide your bashful eyes!), Can eat up to 200-300 megabytes without taking into account additional data. The memory card, ideally, should solve the problem - just move installed program there, as in Windows, or select the installation path. In the advanced firmware from Xiaomi, especially in the eighth version - such support, of course, should be, right?

No. MIUI 8 like previous versions, DOES NOT support transferring programs to a memory card. The reasons were found on the MIUI forum during the writing of the article - the programs installed on the memory card can slow down the loading of the smartphone, lead to unstable operation and significantly increase energy consumption.

In this article we will look at interesting opportunities shell MIUI. You may have heard of some of them, but many interesting functions are veiled in such a way that they are difficult to find, so many do not even know about them. Let's take a look at some of them.

INCREASE RING VOLUME

Enabling this function is not in the sound settings, as it would be logical, but in the settings of the "Phone" application. To activate this feature, you need to go to the settings of the "Phone" application and in the "Incoming calls" section, enable the item "Increase the volume". In the same section, you can find other interesting settings, such as:
- Mute the call when rolling over;
- Muting the call when picking up;
- Flash notification;
- Proximity sensor;
- Muting the beginning of the call.

The purpose of each of the items is explained directly below it (see screenshot).

REPLACING THE CALL SCREEN BACKGROUND

If you are tired of the blue background when making (receiving) calls, then you can apply the lock screen wallpaper there. To do this, go to the settings of the "Phone" application, go to the "Advanced settings" section and in the "Call screen background" change the "Default" value to "Lock screen wallpaper".

There are also other settings in this section:
- Sound when dialing a number;
- Autodial;
- Reminder of missed calls;
- Vibration when answering the interlocutor;
- other.

FUNCTION "ANSWER"

Upon receipt of SMS, the notification is displayed for a while at the top of the display. To the right of the message there is a "Reply" button, by clicking on it you can write a quick reply.

SECURING SMS MESSAGES FROM A CERTAIN CONTACT

The pinned message will always appear at the top of the list. To do this, press and hold the message, in the functions that appear at the bottom of the screen, select "Pin". This message will move to the very top and will be marked with a blue arrow in the upper corner. You can attach one or several messages.

HIDE SMS MESSAGES FROM SELECTED CONTACTS

To do this, you need to make a swipe from top to bottom in the list of SMS messages, until the "Lock" appears. During the initial setup, you need to enter the password for the MI - account. After that, you will need to add pattern key or a pin code. Further in the settings, enter the phone number (or select from contacts). Now messages from selected contacts will not be available in the general list; to view them, you need to swipe from top to bottom again and enter set password or key (fingerprint unlocking possible).

BLOCKING SMS MESSAGES

When adding certain numbers or prefixes to the "Black List", you will not receive messages from them, they will be automatically blocked. This method works with phone calls, further we will not focus on this. To add numbers to the black list, go to "Security" - "Black list". Next, in the settings, add the entire number or a prefix (the beginning of the number, for example 495, calls and SMS from numbers starting with 495 will be automatically blocked). For SMS, blocking by keywords is also possible.

SENDING SMS MESSAGES AT A SPECIFIED TIME

There is an interesting opportunity to send a deferred SMS at a time of your choice, and you can select a year, month, day and time. It is very convenient if you need to send a reminder to yourself (to the second SIM card) or someone else, or, for example, set up automatic sending of birthday greetings. When creating an SMS, choose who you want to send, enter the required text, press "+" to the left of the message text.

In the window that appears, select the date and time.

The message will look like this. Above the message text is displayed when the message is sent.

Click the arrow to the right of the text to send.

- swipe with two fingers from the edges of the screen (lower and upper) to the center (by the principle of reducing the photo) - small icons (application icons).

DIVIDED DESKTOP

On the menu running applications drag the application icon up until two desktops are displayed. This function available only on MIUI 9 with Android 7.x.x.

ONE HAND CONTROL

An interesting feature of the MIUI shell, which will be especially useful for owners of smartphones with large diagonal screen. To activate this mode, you need to make a swipe from the "Home" button in the direction in which the screen will move (to the right or to the left). By clicking on the "Gear" in one of the lower corners (depending on where the desktop is displaced), we will get into the settings of this mode, where you can adjust to what size the desktop will be reduced (in inches).

To exit the published mode, just click on the dark area of the screen.

APPLICATION PROTECTION

You can make it so that when launching certain applications, you are prompted for a password. So you can secure the reading of your correspondence in any messenger or mail. You can protect the Gallery application to restrict access to your photos. In the "Settings" for this there is a separate item "Application Protection". Once there, select the apps you want to protect.

Click Set Password.

Enter and re-enter your password. Now the applications you have selected will only start if the correct key is entered.

WI-FI. SHARE PASSWORD

It is possible to quickly share the password from the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected with your friends, colleagues, etc. It is much easier and faster than entering a password, especially if the password is complex, long, etc., or you simply forgot it. To do this, in the "Settings", in the "Wi-Fi" section, just click on the currently connected network.

A window with a QR code will appear.

Now, to connect to this network on another smartphone, you just need to scan the QR code.

QUICK TURN ON TO MAXIMUM SCREEN BRIGHTNESS

There are times when you go outside on a bright sunny day and you can’t see anything on the screen. the brightness of the screen was set to a very low level, which was convenient for working indoors. It is not always possible, even the first time, to enter the settings in order to increase the brightness. For this there is convenient function, which allows you to increase the screen brightness to the maximum, with a keyboard shortcut.

MIUI 8- just press the key combination "Menu" + "Volume +". The maximum brightness is set until the next screen lock. This is enough to adjust the brightness to a comfortable level.

MIUI 9 -

DISABLING NAVIGATION BUTTONS IN SELECTED APPS

This feature can be useful in games. Often during the game, there are random button presses under the smartphone screen. In this case, the game is minimized. This can be very unfortunate in the midst of events. In the MIUI shell, it is possible to disable the navigation buttons in certain applications... In the "Advanced settings" - "Buttons and gestures", there is an item "Auto-disable navigation buttons". In it, you can select applications and specify how the buttons will be disabled.

FAST ORDERING LABELS ON THE DESKTOP

MIUI 8- just press and hold on free space to enter desktop editing mode, then shake your phone.

MIUI 9 - This feature is not currently available. Perhaps it will be added in the next firmware versions.

QUICK REMOVAL OF APPS

Due to the fact that in MIUI all installed applications are on the desktops, there is no need to go to Applications and uninstall them from there to remove them. It is enough to press and hold on the application icon and then move it up the screen to the trash. This function only works with installed applications, system applications you cannot delete in this way.

FAST LABEL MOVEMENT BETWEEN DESKTOP

To move an application shortcut (folder) between desktops, you need to hold the shortcut in edit mode and scroll through the desktops with your free hand (finger). After selecting the desired table and the position of the shortcut, release it.

CALCULATOR

This application has many more features than you might imagine. In addition to the possibility of switching to engineering mode, there are many more interesting features... Let's list some of them:
- Currency Converter. Allows you to quickly view the amount in another (selected by you) currency. Currency rate data is updated via the Internet;
- Mortgage. Allows you to find out the amount of the monthly loan payment by entering the amount, term, etc. lending conditions;
- translation of various mathematical and other values.

To select a display additional functions in the calculator, you must click on the icon in the upper right corner.

Will be displayed with a selection of additional options.

BLINDS OF NOTIFICATIONS AND SWITCHES

The notification shade has changed with the arrival of MIUI 9. Now the swipe down opens only part of the switches and notifications. To display all the switches, you need to make another downward swipe. If someone does not like this innovation, in the “Settings” there is an option to customize the display of the curtain, as it was implemented in MIUI 8. In the “Notification and status bar” section, by selecting the “Notifications and switches” item, you can choose from two display options: "Combine" - MIUI 9 or "Divide" - MIUI 8.

Also in this section you can configure the following functions:
- Enable notification filter;
- Select applications from which notifications will come;
- Adjust the position of the switches in the blind;
- And much more.

Most of the switches in the blind are active... Those. if you press and hold on it, you will go to its settings, for example: "Wi-Fi", "GPS", "Internet" and many others.

Curtain notifications can be quickly deleted (swipe to the right). Mark as "Unimportant" (swipe left). In this case, you will not receive notifications from this program. Also, some applications have the function of displaying a message in the curtain or displaying additional options, such as: "Reply" "Forward", "Call", etc. To display additional options you need to swipe down on the message with two fingers.

AVAILABLE FUNCTIONS IN THE SECTION "ABOUT TELEPHONE"

And finally, we have reserved two, perhaps, the most interesting features of the MIUI shell, which are not in the shells of other manufacturers.

APP CLONING

This function allows you to create a copy of any application, while it will work with your own settings... For example, you have two Accounts any messenger ("WhatsApp", "Telegram", "Viber", etc.). One account is personal, the other is work. Previously, in order to use multiple accounts on one smartphone, you had to log out of one account and log in to the second, and each time enter your credentials (login, password). It is very inconvenient and takes a lot of time, moreover, you could not use both accounts at the same time. The "Clone Applications" feature gives you this opportunity. To do this, go to "Settings" - "Clone applications" and select those applications for which you want to create a clone.

For example, let's create a clone of the Telegram program.

Agree with cloning Google services(if such a request appears). After that, a second shortcut for "Telegram" will be created.

As we can see, the application shortcuts are different so as not to be confused in the future. The cloned app has a yellow icon in the lower left corner. We launch the clone.

The application invites us to set up an account. Enter your data. We now have two accounts in the Telegram program. In order to create a clone for another application, follow the same procedure. To uninstall - just uncheck the box in the "Clone applications" section opposite the selected application, after that the clone will be deleted.

SECOND SPACE

This function allows you to set up two independent spaces on one smartphone. Thanks to this, we can have two smartphones in one (virtual of course). For example, you can set up one space for work and another for home (or as a "Guest" mode). Each space has its own settings. Also, it is possible to install different applications... To create a second space, go to the Second Space section in Settings and click Create Second Space.

In the next window we will see the inscription "Space has been created" - click "Continue". Now we will be asked to set a password for the second space, at this stage you can click "Skip" (later you can add a password in the settings, if required). Next, you will be prompted to install a fingerprint (if your device has a scanner). We skip it, as when setting a password. The setup is complete. In this window, leave all the items activated and click "OK". We received the second version of our system, which has standard settings as if we just installed it. The desktop differs only in the presence of additional shortcuts (marked in red in the screenshot) for:
- moving applications, photos, etc. between spaces (we will consider a little later);
- management of this space;
- transition to another space.

Also, a corresponding item will appear in the curtain for a quick transition to another space.

Moving data between spaces.

The "Application Settings" item allows you to configure the use of the selected application only in the first space, only in the second space, or in both at once.

The application can be downloaded and installed from Play Market(if not already installed in another space). To do this, you need to log into your account (accounts may be different).

Items import (export) photos, files, contacts - are used to transfer data between spaces.

When changing the space, you will need to enter a password or fingerprint, if the space to which you are moving has a password.

In the first space (after creating the second), a shortcut will also appear on the desktop and in the curtain.

To remove the second space, you need to click on the "Trash" in the upper right corner, in the "Second space" section.

In the next window, confirm the deletion.

And enter the password for the MI - account.

All the features listed in this article are available in the MIUI 8 and 9 shells (perhaps some of the functions were available in earlier firmwares). There are slight differences in their implementation, settings, display, etc. Some of them only work in a specific MIUI or Android version. Where necessary, we have pointed out the differences between MIUI 8 and MIUI 9.

We hope that after reading this article, you have learned more about the capabilities of this shell. Many of them can significantly simplify and speed up work with the device. Try to use the described opportunities in everyday life, we think that this will bring you only positive emotions.

Information for owners of smartphones of other brands. If you want to try out MIUI, you do not need to be the owner for this smartphone Xiaomi... Gadgets besides smartphones and tablets are becoming more and more popular. Today these include, for example, fitness bracelets. They are used so that their owner can track their activity during the day, receive notifications from their mobile phones, use a "sleep planner" and so on.

In today's article, we are going to talk about one of the most popular bracelets in the world. We are talking about the Xiaomi Mi Band. The instruction in Russian for this gadget will allow you to understand it even if you have not had experience of interacting with such devices. However, you can not get it. In this article, we will summarize all the most useful information and make it easier to understand.

Beginning of work. Assembly

Having bought the device, you get it in a specific box made of rough cardboard with the Mi logo on the lid. This is the traditional style of packaging from Xiaomi, nothing new. In order to start working with the bracelet, you need to get it out of the box and assemble it. Now we will tell you how this is done.

In fact, everything is simple if it comes about Xiaomi Mi Band. The instruction in Russian, which was available in the kit, reads: you need to get the base from the package (this is a rubber strap that will be on your hand) and the module. The latter is the metal core of the device, the "brain" of your bracelet. It contains the processor, all sensors and batteries. Next, you need to connect the indicated elements.

On the strap, you will see a special recess made in the shape of the core. This is where the last one needs to be placed. It should fit perfectly without any extra effort on your part, no matter which side you do it. Everything, then you just need to put on and use it.

The instruction on the Mi Band in Russian does not describe how the strap is fixed. This is an intuitive procedure: you need to thread one end of it through the ring located on the other, and then fix the point in the hole you need. This will create a special "double" mount, designed to hold the accessory as securely as possible on your hand.

Smartphone software

In order for the device to successfully perform all its functions, it is necessary to synchronize it with your phone (or, for example, a tablet). This will allow you to make settings for the bracelet, read the received data from it, connect some additional options. Synchronization is performed via Bluetooth (more on that later), but for now let's talk a little about the software.

The instructions on the Mi Band in Russian indicate that in order for the phone to "understand" your gadget, the application must be preinstalled on it. It needs to be downloaded from Google play or AppStore, depending on the version of your phone's operating system.

Also note that the bracelet can only interact with the OS Android version not lower than 4.3 and iOS OS not lower than 5.0.

Synchronization

The direct "connection" of the device and the phone is carried out, as already mentioned, through wireless interface Bluetooth. This is done very simply: just activate the module on your smartphone, and then go to the application (downloaded earlier). According to the instruction on the Mi Band in Russian, after the smartphone finds your bracelet, the latter should react by flashing blue sensors. To confirm synchronization, you must click on one of them several times. After that, you can be sure that the gadget is synchronized with the mobile device from which you will be connected to it.

Indicators

As you understand, Xiaomi Mi Band (the instruction in Russian also asks to pay attention to this) does not have a display for a more understandable display of information. Instead, a system of blinking indicators is used, by the color and number of which you can understand what the device requires of you.

Blue indicators indicate your progress towards the set (previously in the settings) goal. For example, one light is up to ⅓ of the intended number of movements, two - more than ⅓, three lights with a blinking top - more than ⅔ of the total. And if all three indicators are solid blue, it means that you have fulfilled your plan.

According to the describing Mi Band instruction in Russian, there is nothing complicated about it. Keep in mind, though, that color indicators aren't just about your physical activity plan. They can signal other events as well.

Charger

In particular, if your bracelet is lit with three red lights, be aware that it is discharged. Therefore, the instruction on the Mi Band in Russian shows the procedure that needs to be performed in order to replenish the battery of your device.

So, first you need to place the metal core of the device in a special charging device that came with the gadget. The other end of this cord is USB shaped. It must be connected to a PC in order for the charging process to begin.

This is where indicators play a role as well. If the sensors glow green, this indicates either that the charging process is ongoing (one lit element); or a completely ready-to-use device battery (all three elements).

Malfunctions

The instruction in Russian intended for owners of Mi Band also contains a list possible malfunctions... There is this section so that, as you use the device, you can independently determine the cause of some errors and problems that appeared during operation.

In the future, with these malfunctions, you can contact the customer support service center to make repairs. So, this list contains: problems with indicators (which for some reason do not light up); impossibility to conduct correct setting gadget; errors with the step sensor (incorrect determination and counting); the inability to charge the device.

Is in the list possible problems and physical damage to the device: cracks in the case, for example.

Guarantees

Also if you buy original device(meaning those that entered Russia legally), the manufacturer provides special guarantees. They are related to the list of problems from the list of malfunctions that we mentioned above.

There are two periods during which the user can contact the company: 15 days if one of the indicated problems is found. In this case, you can replace the bracelet with a new one or carry out a free repair by means of the company (if this is really a problem from the list).

Also, the user is given a 12-month warranty, and if a problem occurs, the owner of the bracelet can get a free repair of his device at service centers Xiaomi.

Other information

The instruction describing the Mi Band in Russian (iOS 8 or Android - the smartphone platform does not matter) also contains additional information about the materials from which the bracelet core and strap are made, as well as data on their toxicity and allergenicity indicators. Here, the developers have placed information about technical characteristics models, the degree of its protection against water and dust (IP67), operating temperature ranges (-10 ... + 50), materials, dimensions, etc.

  • It has long been known that Xiaomi phone work in operating Android systems in the MIUI shell.
  • For example, gadgets do not have well-defined application shortcuts, which are already accustomed to on standard Android. There is a difference in the shell settings. Therefore, those who first bought a phone of this model do not know how to set up the correct functionality of the phone. Whatever the early words said by us frighten you, I will tell you in detail how to easily and quickly personalize.

Making the initial Xiaomi settings

  • After purchase, the device will ask you to enter the initial settings. Without them, further manipulations will not be possible and the smartphone simply will not start. In this sense, Xiaomi is no different from smartphones running Android.

The first is to choose the interface language.

After connect to WI-Fi networks, which will be considered home, register the main mail address of Google, etc. This moment is familiarity with the phone.
The system itself gives hints on how to fill it in.

  • The main thing is not to take the settings lightly, it is better to fill in everything correctly from the beginning!
  • Setting up the Internet
  • The most important plus smartphones is internet access.
    If during the initial settings you skipped the step of connecting to the network, or the information was entered incorrectly, then take the following steps:
    1. Open the notification panel (Swipe from top to bottom with your finger), find the Wi-Fi icon and hold your finger on it for a couple of seconds.
    2. A menu of available connections will appear. We choose our network.
    3. Enter the set password, log in with the "Connect" button

  • If you need to install internet mobile operator, then you should activate the mobile data transmission. The activation button is in the same panel.
    If with two Sim-cards, and data transfer needs to be enabled strictly by one, perform further operations:
    1. Let's go to Settings.
    2. Find the item "SIM-cards and Mobile networks".
    3. At the bottom of the squeak, you will find the "Internet" option. Click on it.
    4. Specify the SIM card you want to use to connect to the Internet.

Camera setup

  1. Set up your camera before using your phone. For many people, it is important how the device can take pictures in different environments.
    Chinese phones provide a wide range of settings with almost no restrictions. For phone models where dual camera, allows you to blur the phot if desired.
    As in other software programs in the "Camera" all settings are changed through the Settings item, let's proceed to the camera settings.
    1. Save photo to SD card.
  2. 2. High quality Photo. We choose the quality of the photo, we want, but do not forget the higher the quality of the photo, the more power consumption of the phone when taking a picture and the more memory is consumed in the smartphone. If this does not scare you, then we can safely unscrew the maximum in the settings.
    3. Aspect ratio. My advice to you 4: 3 This is the standard format, it will be most effective.
    4. Sharpness. For some, clarity is more important, and for some, sharpness.
