Huawei Honor Magic: amazingly fast charging and artificial intelligence. Huawei Honor Magic: amazingly fast charging and artificial intelligence Huawei Honor Magic

Huawei Honor Magic 2 is a powerful slider smartphone with six cameras. The device received a flagship processor, as well as support for artificial intelligence. The presentation of the device took place at the end of October 2018.

Appearance and ergonomics

Huawei Honor Magic 2 is made in a slider form factor. If you need to get access to the front camera and multimedia speaker, then you need to push the other half of the gadget up a little. The body is made of glass panels, between which there is a glossy metal frame. And in front there are no "bangs" and "chins", since the screen almost completely occupies the entire front side. There are only scanty frames around all the edges. It is noteworthy that the fingerprint scanner is built into the display itself. The frameless screen is covered with a protective 2.5D glass.

The vertical block with the main triple camera is located in the upper corner of the rear of the case. Two lenses are connected to the flash, and the third module is located just below. At the bottom there is a USB Type-C connector. the gadget has got a special glass on which there are almost no traces. At the same time, the surface is relatively slippery, so you need to use the phone very carefully.

It is more convenient to use the gadget with two hands. The device looks very attractive and impressive even against the background of other flagships. Available colors: blue, red, gray. Dimensions: height - 157.3 mm, width - 75.1 mm, thickness - 8.3 mm, weight - 206 g.

Display

Honor Magic 2 has a frameless AMOLED display with a 6.39-inch diagonal. With an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9, its resolution is 2340 by 1080 pixels. The Magic Slide screen covers almost 95% of the bezel area. It is covered with curved glass.

Thanks to proprietary technologies, the image becomes very rich and vivid. The colors are incredibly realistic. The colorful picture is complemented by excellent viewing angles. There is an anti-glare layer that allows the user to comfortably look at the screen outdoors. The oleophobic coating, which practically does not leave prints, will also please.

Iron and performance

Honor Magic 2 smartphone received a very powerful processor Kirin 980, which is built on a 7nm process technology. It not only consists of four Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1800 MHz, but also has two more efficient Cortex-A76 clusters with a maximum clock frequency of 2600 MHz. This eight-core chip is also powered by the Mali-G76 MP10 graphics accelerator.

The device comes in the most different versions... The younger modification has 6 GB random access memory and 128 GB ROM. More advanced models got 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory. It is also planned to release a premium version with a large volume. internal memory in the amount of 512 GB. There is support for microSD cards up to 256 GB, so expand free place it is possible without any problems.

The gadget has a 3500 mAh battery with SuperCharge fast charging function. Out of the box, the device is based on operating system Android 9.0 with EMUI 9.0 preinstalled. There is an exclusive voice assistant Yoyo as well as comprehensive artificial intelligence support.

The still unoptimized version of the chipset at the time of writing the review is gaining more than 250,000 points in the AnTuTu test. And this applies to the cheapest model. In reality, performance is at the level flagship smartphones... Any tasks are processed instantly. Games run at maximum graphics settings.

Communication and sound

The Huawei Honor Magic 2 has a loud multimedia speaker. It can only be accessed after opening the slider. The sound in the headphones is quite high quality, low frequencies are felt. The spoken speaker copes quite well with the transmission of the interlocutor's voice. There is support for two SIM cards, LTE-A Cat 21, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and aptX HD.

Camera

The presence of several at once in Huawei Honor Magic 2 is striking triple chambers... At the back there is a camera with a main 16-megapixel module with an aperture of 1.8 and an additional 16-megapixel sensor with an aperture of 2.2, as well as a 24 megapixel sensor (f / 1.8 aperture). There is support for AI technology, there is led flash... You can shoot videos in 4K resolution. A huge number of special scenes have been prepared for the user so that photos are of excellent quality under any conditions.

The front camera consists of a main 16-megapixel lens with an f / 2.0 aperture, as well as two 2-megapixel sensors (2.4 aperture). She can scan faces, and she does it in full 3D quality for maximum security.

Video reviews

The Huawei Honor Watch Magic is a novelty from a well-known Chinese company. The device has received a high-quality screen, improved navigation system, built-in NFC and many more cool features. Let's talk about this. Read the review information for customer feedback on the new smartwatch.

Differences between the new model

Smart watches from Huawei - Honor Watch Magic are made in a favorite classic design. The round case is 9.8 mm thick and has a removable soft strap. The size is universal, because there is an adjustment.

A brief description of:

  • AMOLED screen with vivid color contrast and 390 × 390 resolution
  • Li-Ion 178 mAh battery with 1 week battery life
  • LiteOS operating system with preloaded applications
  • 16 MB RAM and 128 MB user memory
  • Quad-core Cortex-M4 ARM processor

During testing, the performance of the flagship was checked. The processor provides work on high level without failures and braking in different conditions. The built-in NFC module allows you to pay for goods without a card and cash. Just link your bank account to your watch.

Honor Magic has a triple navigation module. Search function it is represented by three systems - GPS (world), Beidou (Chinese), GLONASS (Russian). So the flagship more accurately determines the geolocation of the user.

What Honor Watch Magic can do

The device has several modes of use. The main ones for sports are running, cycling and swimming. Thanks to its high-grade water resistance, the watch can be used for diving. A training and climbing mode is also built in. As a bonus - a walking profile. Activate it on the way to work or home so that the gadget can track the necessary indicators.

In terms of the combination of brightness and color reproduction, the screen of the Honor flagship is most similar to that of Xiaomi Mi 8, although the white color of Honor is closer to natural, and Xiaomi mixes a little blue even in the most academically accurate settings. The screens of OnePlus 6, Huawei Mate 10 Pro or P20 Pro, for example, are just as steep in terms of color accuracy, but slightly less bright (430 cd / m2 instead of 450 cd / m2 for Honor). In general, it looks great live.

With the sound in Honor Magic 2, everything is fine. Not good as in Samsung Galaxy S9 or Sony Xperia XZ3, but normal - in comparison with the excessively powerful "tynts-tynts" of the Huawei P20 Pro, the bass "stifled" and added a little clarity of sound. Therefore, the smartphone fills you with quite clear trills until ringing in your ears, but it is already difficult for Honor to “swing” the heavy-duty earplugs. There are many sound settings, but all of them are useless, except for the usual 10-band equalizer, in which first of all we add a little low frequencies, and then we decide whether to do something because of a slightly "gurgling" tone of sound (like from a bathroom), or leave it as it is, because you will get tired of adjusting the costs, but you still cannot achieve the reference sound.

In expensive monitor headphones, like editorial ones, the sound is more or less balanced and, again, less bass than you usually expect from Huawei Honor. Connect large headphones over the wire - you get the opportunity to make the sound a little less sonorous and a little more bass, but you cannot get rid of the “bulbulous” tone of the sound. Connect via Bluetooth - distortions in the tone of the sound practically disappear, but the volume seems to be more than it should be (as if it was calibrated for movies, not music), and the low frequencies are still not enough, but you can no longer do anything about it - the equalizer is available only when connecting headphones via cable.

Speaker speakerphone there is only one in Honor Magic 2, and there is even one slot for it in the case, without the usual props. But the sound is not bad, for a solid four on a five-point system - it does not push or wheeze at the maximum, it sounds more or less solid and at the same time loud in the limit. Better than the "simple" Huawei P20 or ASUS ZenFone 5, roughly on par with the OnePlus 6 and even slightly better than the speakerphone in the P20 Pro. But of course, it does not reach the good stereo speakers of the level of the iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9 or Sony Xperia XZ3.

Cameras for delivery

If you can adapt to the flaws of the slider case in Honor Magic 2, and you will be delighted with the quality of the screen, the speed of operation and the charging speed, then the quality of the rear cameras will constantly provoke an inferiority complex in you.

Because while spaceships are plying the Bolshoi Theater, and Huawei is overtaking in photos newest iPhones, the guys from Honor did not bother and just slapped into their best smartphone cameras from the May Honor 10, which, frankly, even in "girlhood" took pictures so-so. Not to say that it's terrible but about the level of the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) or Apple iPhone 6 - for 35-40 thousand from the Chinese flagship, I would like to see something more, right?

Today we will tell you about the "magic" Huawei smartphone Honor Magic, which is interesting if only because it is not at all intended for some kind of commercialization, for huge sales and making money. The phone was announced on the anniversary of Huawei's well-known Honor sub-brand. It looks more like a gift or a symbol of the company's gratitude to its fans, as well as a demonstration of certain technical capabilities manufacturer.

The smartphone immediately after the announcement riveted the attention of hundreds of thousands of people around the world, including the Russian-speaking population, and this is not surprising, because it is unusual in literally everything. We will tell you in our Huawei Honor Magic review about the features of the new brainchild from Huawei. And it's worth starting with the design.

Honor Magic's design is more reminiscent of a device from films about the future. It is truly futuristic and unlike anything by and large. The base of the case is glass. It is from it that both the front and back sides are made. Moreover, both the front and the back of the device are curved, and noticeably.

On the back are located:

  • dual camera lenses;
  • flash;
  • Honor's laconic logo.

On the front panel:

  • speaker;
  • front-camera;
  • several sensors above the screen;
  • the only one Home button under him.

The Home button not only combines a fingerprint scanner, but is also multifunctional. It easily replaces the usual Android buttons, and the scanner works super fast.

Around the perimeter of Honor Magik is a metal frame that looks like just a thin outline on the sides and top. From below, this thin frame expands and turns into the base of the smartphone, containing all the main connectors: headphone jack, SIM card slot, USB type-c and an external speaker.

The slot for SIM-cards, by the way, is rather unusual. 2 Nano SIM cards are inserted from both sides of the tray, thereby saving free space. Upstairs there was only a place for a microphone. The control buttons are located on the right side. Their order is slightly changed and it will take a while to get used to.

Probably one of the most important things in design is practicality. At first glance, it may seem that the shape of the smartphone will be uncomfortable, but in fact it turned out that in the hand it lies like a glove, and the frame that runs along the perimeter is rounded and does not cut the palm. The only drawback of ergonomics is the location of the buttons, which we mentioned a little earlier.

The screen and the back are covered with fingerprints, however, the oleophobic coating from which they are made is excellent and all dirt is easily erased. Of course, scratches may appear over time, so a neat silicone transparent case is included in the kit for this case.

In general, the Honor Magic design is not just unusual, stylish and comfortable, but in general, like a breath of fresh air in the abyss of absolutely identical designs, where it is difficult to distinguish one phone from another.

Display

The display of the device is inextricably linked with the design of Honor Magic, and it is also a delightful demonstration of the technical capabilities of Huawei. The characteristics are as follows:

  • unusual diagonal 5.09 inches;
  • Quad HD resolution 2560 by 1440 pixels;
  • AMOLED matrix, which is also curved;
  • the protective glass is made using 3D technology.

This screen simply absorbed all the most advanced that currently exists on the market. mobile devices... Obviously, no pixels can be discerned with such an insane density. The colors are very saturated, but without the unnatural contrast inherent in AMOLED matrices. The margin of brightness is excellent. It is well calibrated. The automatic adjustment also works correctly. In the settings, you can play around with color correction and adjust the colors for yourself.

The screen is curved on each side, not just left and right. It should be noted that, despite the curvature, the side frames remained in place. The display is so cool that when you use the device, you just don't notice the bezels.

Filling and performance

If we talk briefly about the technical stuffing of the phone, then this is the same Honor 8 only in the older configuration. Inside, we find the eight-core Kirin 950 with four 1.8 GHz cores, four 2 and 3 GHz cores and a Mali-T880 as a graphics accelerator. The same 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. The only difference is that Magic does not support external memory cards.

We expected the performance to drop dramatically due to the increased resolution, however, everything works very quickly and smoothly. This applies to both the interface and the shell, as well as everyday applications and games. There are about a dozen applications in memory, including a browser with several tabs, but nothing lags.

Shell

The only thing that can prevent you from enjoying the work of the device is its own Magic Live shell. She looks very cool:

  • icons, menus look very solid;
  • animations are smooth and neat;
  • split notification panels in the spirit of iPhone: one on a swipe from top to bottom, the other from bottom to top.
  • interesting features in addition to those that we are used to seeing from the company.

At first glance, everything is very cool. A separate feature of the smartphone is its advanced functions with artificial intelligence. He collects statistics, on the basis of which he can later issue advice and recommendations. But to a greater extent, this function is focused on the domestic market and full integration occurs with Chinese services. Perhaps, in the future, the situation will be improved.

Everything would be very cool if the signs of raw software did not slip in the shell. For example:

  • some applications are not installed;
  • some do not start;
  • some work with bugs and so on.

Why could this happen? Most likely, this shell is intended primarily for the Chinese domestic market. Initially, it doesn't even have Google services... They will have to be installed via Google Installer, and this is probably one of the reasons for the problems. Perhaps in the future this problem will be resolved.

Sensors

What I liked separately is the integration of various sensors:

  • you put the gadget on the table - it turns off the screen;
  • you take it off the table - it turns it on;
  • traces the gaze. That is, the owner turned away, for example, the screen went out a little. I looked at him again - he instantly turned on.

It sounds like some trifle, but you quickly get used to it, because it is done very conveniently and unobtrusively. You don't have to wait 10 seconds for the screen to turn on or until the sensor detects that the device has been lifted off the table. This function works very quickly and without errors.

Battery

Nowadays, the problem of the autonomy of smartphones is quite acute. Of course, this problem has already been smoothed out over the past 10 years, but only because many newbies did not use cell phones, and many have forgotten how it was. They just have nothing to compare time with autonomous work your phone, and therefore 1-2 days are not perceived as something critical. Meanwhile, we used our cell phones for weeks on a single charge.

Many people see the use of graphene-polymer batteries as one of the solutions to this problem. Of course, they do not eliminate the problem of limited operating time, but they do solve the problem of fast battery charging. This is at least something. Honor Magic is primarily insanely interesting precisely because it uses a hybrid battery using graphene. After a close acquaintance with the phone, we can say that this is perhaps its coolest feature. In 10 minutes it charges up to 40% percent, in 20 minutes up to 66%, after another 10 minutes it will be 90%. That is, from zero to 90%, the device was charged in half an hour. In words it sounds just cool, in reality it is even cooler. This is a real revolution!

Honor Magic is discharged just as quickly. The battery is here at 2900 mAh. This is probably not enough for a 2K display and serious hardware. The smartphone was discharged from 100% to 20% in 5 hours and 48 minutes. This is really not enough. We are waiting for the batteries to start not only charging quickly, but also to run down many times slower.

Camera

Huawei Honor Magik's camera is the same as in Honor 8. These are not top-end cameras, however, they will cope with most of the tasks of their owner perfectly. The function of photography with an open aperture and depth of field - as with all, the implementation is not ideal, but you can get good pictures with a certain skill. You can watch the video of the camera below to estimate its approximate quality.

Outcomes

The price for this device now starts at $ 700. This is a very cool smartphone in some aspects and some things that are implemented in it really inspire respect and awe: incredible design; stunning display; revolutionary battery and so on. Despite this, it is still generally perceived as an experiment, not a finished product.

This is ubiquitous in technology or in the automotive industry. And we sincerely look forward to these capabilities and these features in the new Huawei phones, which will already be targeted for mass release.

Full Huawei review Honor Magic you can take a look at the link below

Honor Magic looks stylish and even magical due to the strongly curved glass on the sides and smoothed body shapes. A similar feature is used by the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but here the screen is bent not only on the sides, but also at the top and slightly below. And to such an extent that the ends of the device merge with the glass and this makes the phone look like a bar of soap or a smooth pebble. This is very unusual, but not very pretty. Unusual for a smartphone from Huawei is a fingerprint scanner. For the first time, it was not placed on the back, but integrated with the Home button under the display. On the back of the Honor Magic are dual cameras with flash. The back is almost completely covered with glass, which looks stylish, but it is not very practical - the case will slide and get dirty quickly.

The declared dimensions of the smartphone: 146.1 × 69.9 × 7.8 mm, weight - 145 grams. It has a slim but very tall body. For comparison, the 5.2-inch Huawei P9 weighs the same, but is more compact.

Honor Magic will be available in two colors: black and white.

Screen

About Honor screen Magic is not much known - it has an atypical diagonal, 5.09 inches, an AMOLED matrix and an extremely high Quad HD-resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels). The pixel density is very high - 577, the image clarity is on par with the Samsung Galaxy S7. There is no more information about the display, but knowing about the AMOLED matrix, you can be sure of the high contrast of the image and good readability in the sun.

Camera

Judging by the available information, Honor Magic received almost the same cameras as the Huawei Honor 8 - dual rear 12 MP and front 8 MP. The principle of dual cameras is the same as that of the Huawei P9 - one is color and the other is black and white to improve the quality of photos (especially in low light conditions). Most likely, Honor Magic will shoot at least as good as Honor 8, which is already good. The only pity is that the used chipset does not support 4K video shooting, which means the phone will be left without this flagship attribute.

Communications

Honor Magic has a fairly wide range of wireless communications:

  • high-speed and dual-band Wi-Fi a / b / g / n / ac
  • LTE support
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • NFC chip
  • A-GPS with GLONASS support.

There is no information on FM radio yet. The smartphone has two slots for nanoSIM cards, but they work alternately. It is also known to use a USB Type C connector for charging and connecting to a PC.

Battery

Honor Magic is responsible for the autonomy accumulator battery with a capacity of 2900 mAh. This is a good indicator for the diagonal of a smartphone. For comparison, the 5.5-inch models and the Huawei Honor 5X only have a slightly higher 3000 mAh battery. On the one hand, the phone has a rather powerful chipset, but on the other hand, it has an economical display type. The manufacturer does not announce specific numbers, but the autonomy can be expected from the device at the level of Honor 8, that is, about a day of work on a single battery charge. But the company announced support for fast charging - up to 40% in 10 minutes and up to 70% in 20 minutes.

Performance

The performance of the Honor Magic promises to be quite high. It has 4 GB of RAM, quite powerful, although not the new eight-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 chipset (4 cores at 2.3 GHz and 4 cores at 1.8 GHz). The same was used in Huawei Honor 8, but with the speed of work, everything is fine. Unless the graphics chipset Mali-T880 MP4 is weak for Quad HD resolution and will be noticeably inferior to modern flagships in heavy toys.

Memory

The built-in memory of Honor Magic is 64 GB. This is enough for storing photos, music, installing games and applications. There is nowhere to wait for the possibility of expanding the memory - the phone does not have a slot for a memory card, which can be called a disadvantage of the model as a whole.

Peculiarities

The Honor Magic smartphone runs Android 6, although it does not have the usual EMUI interface, instead there will be something new, the "magic" Magic Live interface with artificial intelligence functions. There is no information about upgrading to Android 7.

Honor Magic has many features: it is an unusual design with curved 3D glass, an ultra-clear display, dual camera and a new shell with artificial intelligence functions. The latter includes a number of "smart" features, for example, unlocking the phone with a glance (FaceCode) or forecasting user needs (offering recommendations based on the analysis of your messages). Smart Display will proactively display information that is relevant to you. In fact, its implementation is not yet clear, it is possible that the function will only interfere. In addition, this means that now not only Google, but also Huawei will collect your personal information, for example, about correspondence in instant messengers and social networks... Interestingly, Huawei was the first to introduce a device with built-in artificial intelligence, but its capabilities are not amazing. In addition, Samsung is also expected to use artificial intelligence in its flagship.
