The best secure smartphone. The best protected smartphones and phones with IP68. Rugged smartphone Handheld X1

Perhaps you often work in extreme weather conditions, enjoy hunting or fishing, or are simply tired of worrying about something spilling on your precious smartphone. In this case, a shock-resistant, dust- and moisture-proof smartphone will be simply irreplaceable. The question is which of the many models to choose.

The best rugged smartphones of 2018 have one drawback. They will never win a “mobile beauty pageant” because they are targeting a different audience. And for those looking for an aesthetically pleasing model, it's better to pay attention to the latest Samsung Galaxy S9 or iPhone X models.

Some may not like the poor screen-to-body ratio of this 5.5-inch device. However, the good thing about this approach is that in return you get more material around fragile parts (like the screen). And this will soften the fall.

On the back, you will find two 12-megapixel camera sensors, a large LED flash, AGM logo, square fingerprint sensor and small speaker. And the irritating factor is the presence of a glass panel, which is not only a fingerprint magnet, but can also break or be scratched.

This rugged, rugged smartphone is new for 2018 and has the best price-to-feature ratio.

The BV9000 Pro is an evolution of the BV8000 Pro design. The manufacturer abandoned the bright IP68 logo and returned the fingerprint reader to back panel, and added more strict black color.

While new flagship phone The Blackview is larger than its predecessor and doesn't look mainstream, even though it has a much larger 5.7-inch display (compared to the BV8000 Pro's 5-inch). The screen has an aspect ratio of 18:9, reflecting the current trend in the smartphone market.

The BV9000 Pro is powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6757 (Helio P25) chipset. It has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the MT6757 that is built into the BV8000 Pro. Flash memory has also increased - 128 GB, but the amount of RAM has not changed compared to the BV8000 Pro - 6 GB.

The rear camera has become double - 13/5 MP and has not only a macro mode, but also an optical Zoom 2x. But the battery capacity has not changed - 4180 mAh.

Review of rugged smartphones 2013-2014

About three years have passed since the publication of the article devoted to secure mobile devices (), and during this time the market has been filled with a fairly large number of interesting models. This time the review will focus exclusively on smartphones, which have almost completely supplanted regular dialers from this market. Well, now, having such a device at hand, you can get the most out of it, and not just make calls and send messages with it in extreme situations.

Here they will fundamentally be left behind flagship smartphones with housing protection degree IP67 and IP68. Yes, they provide protection against the penetration of dust and moisture, some can quite adequately withstand immersion in water for several minutes, but they still cannot be called fully protected. They are still easy to damage under harsh operating conditions, their glass is easy to break, and their thin body (and almost all flagships have this) with impressive screen sizes can be irrevocably damaged. Smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 mini (IP67 in both models), Sony Xperia ZR (IP68), a device with similar characteristics is planned to be released by the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. All of them are united by the fact that security is not put at the forefront of positioning, but is only a pleasant bonus to their already top characteristics. But we will still focus on those models that scream with all their appearance: with them, even into fire, even into water, even into war.

: The only device in this review is sold with the Android KitKat operating system already installed and additionally complies with the 810G military standard.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones?: operating time as close as possible to normal operating time push-button telephone. The device also received support for two SIM cards.

This IP68-rated smartphone also boasts Dragontrail tempered glass made by Japanese company Asahi Glass. It saves much better from mechanical damage than the more familiar one. Very tight-fitting rubber plugs protect against the penetration of moisture and dust - to move them out of place, you need to apply quite a serious force. There is also a carabiner mount on the body.

The hardware characteristics of the smartphone are absolutely not impressive and rather define it as mobile devices entry-level: dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225 processor, Adreno 203 graphics accelerator, 768 MB of RAM, 4 GB of permanent memory. This set is complemented by a four-inch screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The smartphone operates in both 2G and 3G networks and has standard set wireless communications, including GPS. Works for Google Android 4.0.4, there are also two cameras: the main one is 8 megapixels and the front one is 0.3 megapixels.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones?: very rich equipment. There is both a “red laser” and a button emergency call SOS, and of impressive size external antenna, and support for two SIM cards for particularly economical and prudent owners. In addition, it has an impressive battery capacity - a whopping 3800 mAh!

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones?: the ability to be used as a full-fledged radio station with a range of up to five kilometers. Communication operates in the frequency range 400-480 MHz, suitable for areas where there is no coverage mobile operator. It also has two slots for SIM cards from mobile operators.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones?: impressive size touch screen, plus it is the largest rugged smartphone at the time it went on sale.

The smartphone is protected in accordance with the international IP68 standard, which is facilitated by its monolithic design. Here you cannot remove the entire back panel, but a large plug at the bottom is removable, under which you will find a slot for a SIM card and a memory card. The battery can only be removed at a service center.

Of the characteristics, the first thing worth noting is the screen: its diagonal is 5.3 inches and the resolution is 540x960 pixels. This opens up a lot of opportunities for communication in social networks, working with Internet content and simply viewing entertainment media content. At the same time, the fully equipped smartphone has an average weight of 245 grams. The hardware components here include a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 with a frequency of 1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and a standard set of wireless communications (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS). There are two cameras - the main one is 8 megapixels and the front one is 2 megapixels. The smartphone works under Android control 4.1 Jelly Bean, battery capacity is 2900 mAh.

Despite the fact that secure smartphones cannot be called very popular, the demand for them confidently remains. This can be seen at least from the variety of models that we see on sale. All manufacturers mentioned in this review have at least 2-3 devices of this type. Unfortunately, in technical terms they cannot be called advanced, because compared to most ordinary Android smartphones they look more than modest. However, we are pleasantly pleased with the fact that their protective capabilities are becoming more and more interesting every time.

Neither more nor less - the most sophisticated shockproof smartphone in the world. Just as Xiaomi made smartphones with a capacious battery fashionable, Motorola was the first to create a prestigious rugged smartphone in the body of a regular model.

The experiment began with the 2015 Moto X Force. At that time, the model was super-top, with one main difference from its competitors - the screen covered with several layers of protective plates. All other characteristics of the armored motorcycle were typical for flagships, and the stupid Snapdragon processor 810, and cheap cameras were inferior to the creations of Samsung and Apple, but the X Force was far from a budget-feeling device that was incredibly difficult to break, and due to this it became a cult

a mobile phone (as opposed to the shame and disgrace in the form of the reincarnation of Nokia 3310). Therefore, it is not surprising that Motorola released a rugged model for the Z-series in 2016.

New times, unfortunately, dictate new trends, so the secure smartphone has become a little more “glamorous” to please more buyers. There are now many more vulnerable places for scratches on the body, and the fingerprint scanner on the front panel is now easy to “knock off” instead of the screen if the smartphone lands poorly. The camera on the back panel sticks out from the body like a large round glass - it is not provided with a protective “armor”, because, according to Motorola’s idea, buyers will attach modules to the back cover. And also because of the “need to do it like Apple” complex, Motorola removed the standard headphone jack - connect, they say, a headset via an adapter or directly to USB Type-C.

Therefore, in terms of the ratio of strength and bells and whistles, the old Moto X Force looks preferable, but only in this case you will get a modern and very fast Snapdragon processor, a cool AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution, a capacious battery and modern quality cameras. And all this in the thinnest case, by the standards of rugged smartphones, 7 millimeters thick, like your iPhone 7!

But you will have to pay for such a combination, and in foreign stores and in large quantities - the new Moto Z Force will cost from 35 to 45 thousand rubles and is unlikely to become cheaper. Be that as it may, we recommend it to everyone who craves the coolest mobile phone that is guaranteed not to break after falling from their hands onto concrete.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active - a macho flagship in camouflage

Samsung is doing well everywhere, and Koreans are also paying attention to the class of secure phones. Ever since the Galaxy S5, Korean flagships have received tuned versions with water protection. The Galaxy S7, which is still relevant today, has also become an “SUV”, but only in its flat (without a curved display) version. And even with a 4000 mAh battery, that is, with the main drawback of the regular S7 corrected.

The level of water protection in the smartphone is the same as in the “just Galaxy S7” - according to the IP68 certificate (it will survive under water for half an hour at a depth of up to 1.5 meters without any problems). But the body of the smartphone is no longer glossy and not rectangular in Korean style, so it will appeal to those who are annoyed by Samsung’s “washy” shapes. And the most important thing is that in this “body kit” the S7 is protected according to the military standard MIL-STD-810G, that is, it is not afraid of exposure to high and low temperatures, extreme shaking and dust, and will also survive a fall of one and a half meters onto a flat surface without consequences.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

True, it is not nearly as heavily armored as Motorola's Force series. The display is covered with plastic, under which everything is hidden protective glass Gorilla Glass. Therefore, it is better not to drop your smartphone “for fun,” as X Force owners like to do.

There are no spare parts for the outlandish model anywhere, it is sold only in the USA exclusively from the AT&T operator, the firmware from the “simple” Galaxy S7 is not suitable, the Russian language has to be installed using “workarounds”, and buying a smartphone abroad will cost about 35 thousand rubles. Not as cheap as for a smartphone, let’s assume, without a guarantee, which also needs to be adapted for work in Russia. But this is a real Galaxy S7 with its cool camera, the very best AMOLED display, flagship and very high-quality hardware. There is simply no other equally prestigious rugged smartphone.

Blackview BV7000 Pro - cheap and sophisticated

Every smartphone, in addition to its basic characteristics, there is the so-called “moral strength”. It lies in the fact that a priori you will treat a mobile phone costing 40–50 thousand rubles more carefully than a budget model - you will not talk on the flagship in a dusty place, you will wrap the glass smartphone in a cheap case from Aliexpress and filthy films. In general, you will make futile attempts to keep your expensive mobile phone, even at the expense of the freedom to use it.

This makes sense if you are a geek who makes the most of an obscenely expensive model. But why “protect yourself” and spend huge sums if you just need a modern, moderately fast smartphone for a little bit of everything? It’s enough just not to be a “mobile photographer” and look around a little to pick up a very fast and inexpensive Chinese phone, which, moreover, will not be too much to spare.

Among the protected models, the Blackview BV7000 Pro looks like a smart option - one of the newest and most technically advanced protected “Chinese”. Water protection according to IP68 class, durable protective glass, which, although it will not save you from falling from a great height, will not crack from moderate impacts. In general, the smartphone is not completely indestructible, but very strong.

Blackview BV7000 Pro

But the trick lies in the ratio of characteristics and price. For 11 thousand rubles you get a faceted model with metal inserts, a Full HD display, a quite sensible MT6750T processor (don’t be alarmed - this is a “reinvented” MT6753) with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage + a microSD slot and 3500 mAh with a five-inch display diagonals. The characteristics look decent even without taking into account the surcharge for water protection and partial impact resistance.

Flaws? Mediocre cameras(not horror-horror, but like in smartphones costing 6–7 thousand in Russia), unpredictable build quality from copy to copy and almost no support from the manufacturer. That is, the “glitches” of the firmware are the problems of buyers, and not the motivation for releasing an update over the air.

Blackview BV7000 Pro

But the smartphone is cheap, sophisticated and secure - competitors are either noticeably more expensive, or are filled with old hardware, and are also not bug-free. Don’t expect that you will get a completely problem-free BV7000 Pro, but if you have experience in disputes on Aliexpress (to extract a discount from the seller for defects) and without the pathos of “everything that worse than iPhone- scrap metal" can be taken.

But seriously, the Chinese brand AGM produces smartphones, as they say, every week, but it doesn’t look like just another “bracker” manufacturer. Normal (not cool, but normal) filling for the money, and not exactly a Chinese price. In short, the realities are as follows:

  • Snapdragon 617- today it has turned into a budget Snapdragon 430. Eight leisurely cores.
  • 4/64 GB of memory. Solid, especially against the background of crafts with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage in official retail.
  • 5.5" Full HD AMOLED display. Excellent considering the price.
  • 5400 mAh battery. We remember the efficiency of the display and rejoice. Find out what the smartphone supports fast charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and rejoice again.
  • dual rear camera. Bad dual camera, worse than in Redmi Pro. That is, the additional sensor is needed only for post-processing to slightly improve the picture. But the automation is a bit dull, and high-quality pictures are only taken on a very sunny day.
  • Fingerprint's scanner.Thank you for being alive, as they say.

Everything else is so-so. Android 5.1 (yes, in 2017), although the Chinese promise an update to Android 7.0, the speaker is of low quality, the system is periodically plagued by glitches and freezes for no particular reason. But there is water protection (IP68), the body is durable, and battery life is good. Whether to pay 16 thousand rubles for such joy is an open question. X-First has as many alternatives good characteristics“on paper” there is practically nothing. And the reliability of both AGM and its Chinese counterparts is questionable.

There are currently quite a lot of rugged phones on the smartphone market. They are dustproof, waterproof and even shockproof. Today we will look at the ten best rugged smartphones.

1. Ranger Fone S19 (Batl S19, MANN S19)

This smartphone, made in China, went on sale relatively recently. He has a very high degree protection, quite good specifications and quite easy to use. The size of the device is not that big, but availability of NFC makes it an indispensable assistant in life. Almost the only disadvantage of this model is its low popularity in the market.

2. Casio GzOne CA-201L

This smartphone is the best rugged smartphone that was produced in Japan. Its miniature size and design are very pleasing to the eye. The device supports GPS, which is very fast. The only downside of this smartphone was that it was manufactured on Korean firmware, which was intended only for one telecom operator. Therefore, to send SMS or make a call, I had to use the Internet. Also, the phone did not have the ability to switch to Cyrillic using the Android keyboard. Over time, all these problems were corrected.

3. Hummer H5

Quite a strong brand Made in China in the style of “SUVs” does not at all look like a budget model, as was the case with other phones in this class. And the prices for previous SUVs were not very high, as were their technical characteristics. But time does not stand still, and quality improves along with its passage. The Hummer H5 provides maximum durability in water and average performance.

4. Snopow M8

This smartphone appeared in online stores in the CIS in February 2014. The M8 is not a flagship, but provides maximum protection from water and shock. The disadvantage is the poor touch sensitivity of the sensor and the lack good reviews in various online markets. Technical characteristics also do not allow us to take a higher rating line.

5. Land Rover A8

A smartphone with average characteristics, but very high level protection. The device is assembled to a very high quality. There are no bugs on it, the speed is quite high. A capacious battery, a bright flashlight, loud speakers and the presence of travel applications make it stand out from the crowd. The price is reasonable compared to other smartphones of this type.

6. Runbo Q5

The technical characteristics of the smartphone fully allow us to call it a flagship. This makes the Q5 stand out from the entire Runbo line. If you look at the security of the device, it becomes clear that it is far from the best. This is evidenced by user reviews. The plugs are not secured with latches, so USB connector Water easily gets inside the smartphone. The same goes for the plug for the radio - it also does not seal the connector.

7. Runbo X6

An ultra-functional smartphone with dimensions approaching those of a tablet. Because of this, it has a lot of weight. The price of the device is quite high.

8. BATL S09 PPT

This smartphone, which appeared in Ukraine in the second half of 2013, has good technical characteristics and good security. This is actually the first quad-core smartphone with high security. The connector plugs are fixed very tightly, so it is not recommended to open them with your fingernails. The model is sold under a huge number of names (Enjoy S09, SIDAV STORM, Chigon S09, Tekfly S09, IRON M09, Cruiser S09, W63, etc.), which does not in any way affect the defect rate, which is very small. Among all the secure phones on this moment is the most bug-free and reliable.

9. Ruggear RG970 (J4 Fox)

J4 has become one of the most beautiful rugged devices. Fast, above average performance, easy to use, good satellite reception via GPS. Despite all these advantages, the price of the device is high. Everything would be fine if not for bugs in the firmware. Incomplete firmware kernel, missing row technical services. Despite these shortcomings, the smartphone has gained many fans.

10. Kyocera Torque E6710

A Japanese device that appeared in the CIS in the early spring of 2013. The clear advantage of the smartphone is the presence of the MIL-STD-810G standard, good moisture and dust resistance, the presence of an NFC module and a walkie-talkie, high-quality GPS performance and the ability to work in 4G networks. The device's sensor is very sensitive (which did not affect the protection). Despite the dual-core processor, the operating speed is very pleasing. This smartphone has the world's best noise reduction technology, thanks to which there is no standard speaker, and the audibility of conversations is excellent even at the airport. The main drawback is the lack of support for the GSM standard, which makes it impossible to work with most telecom operators in the CIS.
