How to find out or see the password from WiFi on Android

Active users of mobile devices - smartphones and tablets are more likely to use Wi-Fi wireless networks if they are in the coverage area. And this is no wonder: firstly, it is free, and secondly, as a rule, the speed is higher than through a 3G connection. The key to the connected network is automatically stored in the device's memory and the user works calmly. This handy thing can play a very bad joke with us over time - after some time it may be necessary to look at the Wi-Fi password - for example, you need to connect another phone or tablet. And you completely forgot about it! Of course, if you have access to a router or access point, then you can easily go into its settings and see. But what if there is no such possibility or you are connecting to someone else's network, access to the management of which is not and will not be?!

Here we come to the rescue that the Android operating system is rooted in Linux, which is built on configuration files. That's all the previously entered passwords for WiFi networks are also stored in a file called wpa_supplicant.conf. It is located in the /data/misc/wifi directory. The full path will be:

/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

Its content looks like this:

As you can see, the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID), the type of encryption and the key - PSK are stored here. Everything is convenient and visual. The only difficulty that may arise is that you can view the wpa_supplicant.conf file only with the rights root. That is, on Android, you first have to “get the root”, and only then you can only find out the password from the Wi-Fi network.

By the way, if you are too lazy to climb through system folders, you can use a special utility - WiFi Key Recovery:

As you can see in the screenshot, the whole point of the program is that it reads the contents of wpa_supplicant.conf and displays it on your screen.
True, this application still needs Root rights to work.
